Docktop 1.3 (Mac OS X)

Not Snow Leopard Compatible

This version of Docktop is NOT compatible with Snow Leopard. After inquiring about an update, the developer responded that they'll get around to it "eventually," but it isn't any kind of top priority. Understandable for a $6 app, but it leaves paid customers in a lurch. Don't buy this app until it has been updated. [alert admin]

Cha-Ching 1.2.3 (Mac OS X)

Poor Import Capabilities

I initially used Cha-Ching on a trial basis and then acquired a license via MacHeist. Of all the capabilities built into the program, the one that is lacking and which prevents the program from being useful to me is import of files in CSV or tab-delimited format. Cha-Ching support QIF/QFX file import, as do most of its competitors; however, contrary to popular belief, some stoggy old financial institutions do NOT make data available to customers in those formats. SOME instititutons are still using CSV format. Additionally, for whatever reasons a user might have for creating their own CSV files for import, the need exists. Being a programmer myself, I know how quick and easy it is to add CSV import to any product that uses an underlying database. Cha-Ching has been around a while and has gone through numerous releases; and the developers were made aware of the need for CSV import. The fact that they haven't added support for CSV import makes the product useless to me and probably less attractive to many others. I surely hope to see this deficit corrected before too many more releases of the software. [alert admin]

AOL Radio 1.1 (Mac OS X)

AOL Radio - Free and Good

I've been using v1.1 of this program for almost a year and it has worked flawlessly. The XM Radio channel sound flawless and this is a great, free alternative to paying for XM Radio. [alert admin]

PocketMac Regular Edition 2.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

The program works…

sporadically and poorly. It claims to synchronize from iCal, but turns regular appointments into multi-day appointments. The documentation for this product is almost non-existent. Given the quality of the software, the lack of decent documentation, and the aggravation caused by problems the program creates, the product should be called "shareware" and not "commerical," and it should be priced way less than the $70 asking price.
