DashOff 1.01 (Mac OS X)

Dash Off works as advertised except for.....  

Unlike the other feedback which is nothing more than venting about the weakest link in Mac OSX aka, "The Dock", this is about DashOff. It works as advertised. With it you can easily turn the Dashboard on or off as you desire. It has a no-brainer installation and takes up virtually no space on the drive. It worked great on my Powerbook G4/ Tiger, BUT.... after installing it on my iMac G5/Tiger, the whole thing came to a screaching halt. The system was dragged down to a crwal with all operations timing out. I finally got the disk utility open and managed to do a permissions repair. This is what resulted. ##################################################### Repairing permissions for “HD” Determining correct file permissions. User differs on ./Library/Perl, should be 0, owner is 501 Group differs on ./Library/Perl, should be 80, group is 20 Permissions differ on ./Library/Perl, should be drwxrwxr-x , they are drwxr-xr-x Owner and group corrected on ./Library/Perl Permissions corrected on ./Library/Perl We are using special permissions for the file or directory ./Library/Widgets. New permissions are 16877 User differs on ./Library, should be 0, owner is 501 Group differs on ./Library, should be 80, group is 20 Permissions differ on ./Library, should be drwxrwxr-t , they are drwxr-xr-x Owner and group corrected on ./Library Permissions corrected on ./Library We are using special permissions for the file or directory ./usr/lib/php/build/acinclude.m4. New permissions are 33060 User differs on ./usr, should be 0, owner is 501 Group differs on ./usr, should be 0, group is 20 Owner and group corrected on ./usr Permissions corrected on ./usr User differs on ., should be 0, owner is 501 Group differs on ., should be 80, group is 20 Permissions repair complete Permissions differ on ., should be drwxrwxr-t , they are drwxr-xr-x Owner and group corrected on . Permissions corrected on . The privileges have been verified or repaired on the selected volume #################################################### I don't know if this is directly related to DashOff but since the repair included Widgets, I suspect it did. The system works fine now but I have stopped using DashOff until I can research it some more. If you DashOff guys are listening, maybe you can fix this. If you Apple guys are listening, why don't you just put an on/off switch on Dashboard. [alert admin]
