Times Reader 1.0b1 (Mac OS X)
Silverlight's foot in the door
Microsoft knows the Times web site is among the most highly trafficked. A few large into a few pockets, and, lo- a reader designed only for this. Sad, tacky, under-handed. Typical. [alert admin]

ICeCoffEE 1.5b3 (Mac OS X)
10.4.11 nothing but crashing Safari
Been using IceCoffee for, well, forever, and after this new beta install, Safari was unable to stay up at all. Crash log clearly linked IceCoffee to the fault. Uninstalled, and reverted to 1.4.4, which is fine. [alert admin]

Aqua4iTunes 3.5.0b (Mac OS X)
after installing, iTunes unable to open
Haven't had any luck with the last few versions of this utility- and I shocked myself in willing to give it a go this time, but I figured the library corruption problem had been solved, and it apparently has, but this time, after install, iTunes dropped dead after declaring 'not enough memory'. Uninstalled, all is good again- iTunes loads and opens, and the Library appears intact. [alert admin]

Subliminal Message Pro 1.0.0 (Mac OS X)
scam and fraud- do not give charlatans your money
'Subliminal' influence is a fraud- this has been proven. There is no such thing as 'subliminal' learning or perception. Any attempt to exploit this for a fee is a fraud and a crime in many jurisdictions. Do not support criminals. [alert admin]

ToastVideoRemote 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Don't know if this is related to this crash or not, but I've had kernel panics continually when any attempt to use the playback function within Toast. This has continued through version 7 and 8, and through all versions of 10.4. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Mac OS X)
Did two updates, all fine, with one exception- on one machine Safari would crash outright when downloading. Tried all the inputmanager stuff, no joy- finally deleted Safari and reinstalled from the combo updater. Of course, what makes life livable with Safari, Pithhelmet, SafariEnhancer, SafariBlock, all not working. Otherwise, seems okay. Anyone got a link for Safari 2...? [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Mac OS X)
One install, powerbook, ok. The other, G4 tower, seems to be fine (used the combo on both), but Safari quits abruptly while attempting to download anything. [alert admin]

10.4.11 nothing but crashing Safari
Well, thanks, but no thanks- I have no desire to return to a clearly nonviable state. In addition, I had to reload APE itself, because after rebooting, both Mail and Safari would not launch at all, giving some -18xxx error. Something is amiss, and maybe I'm the only one it happens to, but it did.

Tidy gives up several warnings for your page, most of which are for proprietary code. Try removing that first.

I was a bit unclear- what happens after installing this (and it persists after 'uninstalling') is that all the items in my Library become 'unfound', and I have to reset the entire, 22G, library. This is on a separate drive from the boot drive where iTunes is. I tried this three times (not with the last three versions, but with the version prior to this one) and every time it wiped the Library. I did…

Actually, yes, asking what photo service or blog I use _is_ irrelevant- I don't have either of these things. Could be a nice feature, perhaps, but a bit asinine to have as part of the install process, if not presumptive and annoying.

Tried again- this time removing all instances of the old file, downloaded fresh, and reinstalled. This time it imported bookmarks. Looks like this needs an installer which will get rid of previous files.

Remove the '.bz2' from the downloaded file name. Should do the trick.

Slow GUI, non-Apple look and feel
That, and whatever server they are using for the file is dog slow.

Yes, this solves the problem, at least for me. This framework was not mentioned in the readme, and, jeez, how hard is it for developers to release an app with the appropriate installers built-in, anyway?
