Nice update

Seem even faster than before, with over 500k/sec speeds for me so far. As far as apps phoning home, there are plenty of good softs for controlling your outgoing ports, including Little Snitch, NetBarrier, etc. In this case I like the version checking just fine. [alert admin]

Art Directors Toolkit 3.1.5 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Very nice

I also got a copy bundled with a Mac, and I was surprised to find it so useful. It's now on my syllabus, recommended for print and interactive design students. Nice job. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.3.1 (Mac OS X)

no trouble here

Upgraded a handful of clients and a server, all without a single problem. I'm not seeing any major changes though, either. I think most of the issues addressed with this update are machine specific, which might explain why some people had trouble and others did not. [alert admin]

no trouble here

but I don't see any major improvements either, at least with my setup. I'm still getting used to the major speed increase from Jaguar to Panther :-) [alert admin]

Just a quick Terminal fix. My shell and aliases remain as they were and all is well in the land of CLI... [alert admin]

Apple X11 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Strange twist on open-source?

I just did a clean install of Panther and X11 v1 was an option, included on my discs. If this version is not backwards compatible, and it is available on the 10.3 install disc, then the logical conclusion is that this posting is meant to function as an ad for Panther. [alert admin]

Safari Enhancer 2.0.7b1 (Mac OS X)

Great!

I love this useful app. I always use this tool at least once per release to disable caching. It's nice to see a developer STILL willing to contribute time and money to bring us all quality freeware! Kudos. [alert admin]

Saft 5.0.0 (Mac OS X)

use this as bookmark:

javascript:window.moveTo(0,0) window.resizeTo(screen.availWidth,screen.availHeight) Not the same thing, but it's free, and I promise not to complain about my broken car or my 20 hour days. [alert admin]

Apple Security Update 2003-10-28 (Mac OS X)

Problems?

Not on three Macs with nothing in common except for clean installs of 10.3 done by someone (me) who knows better than to blame one's own stupidity on a 956k Apple patch. Get real. [alert admin]

What? LOL

You say, "Those who made no response to the requests for a donation should really keep quiet." Is this Nazi Germany? Sorry, but my four-star review is as valid as my opinion about the price. You can't have it both ways. And I did make a response to his donation request. I declined.

A voice of reason, thank you! I report "CV" as I do anyone who turns this site into their personal weblog. What a moron.

Bad memory or just a liar?

Listen sonny boy, when you write something and put your name to it you must deal with it. Either you're memory is lousy, which might explain your nasty disposition, or you're simply a liar. Either way, my quote is correct, my "rant" is perfectly legitimate, and you'll never see another dime of my money. My advice to you: stick to secluded development -- your people skills are quite lacking. Should you continue to insult paying…

YazSoft Update

Dear YazSoft

When you make a sale, you're not just selling your product or service, you're selling your word -- your promise to the consumer. One of the reasons Speed Download used to receive such good ratings was due to the fact that users knew that each update was reaffirmation of the promise that "All UPDATES have always been and will always be FREE to registered users." We took you at your word and bought your…

Pay for it

Do you think admitting to theft lends credence to your opinion? Do you think posting insults to fellow readers is a persuasive approach? Have you considered running for public office, and if nominated would you accept? Nevermind that last question.

Why??????

I can only guess that you can't see Apple.com because you are using some sort of ad blocking software. If you are turn it off and the site will come back, as it did for me a long time ago. FYI: Apple.com pages are served from a server also known for ad serving... If that's not your problem then I have no idea, but there is no bug to report.
