Navicat MySQL Manager 7.1.2 (Mac OS X)

Solid product, but needs some UI enhancements

I've been using Navicat on and off for about six months, and overall it's a solid, full-featured app. The schema and data synchronization is excellent. Customer support is also very responsive. The one big complaint I have is with the UI...it sorely needs a refresh. There are very few options for customization, such as font or list display settings. The icons are gawdy, with no ability to use small icons in the toolbar, or remove icons from the toolbar. Otherwise, it works as designed. [alert admin]

Changes 1.0.4 (Mac OS X)

Very Nice Start

I have to echo the previous comments about the need for a Beyond Compare equivalent in the Mac universe. I too have been looking for years. Changes is a great start and somewhat fills the niche (though still can't compete with BC). Araxis Merge is more feature complete and stable, but is ridiculously overpriced. I've been using Changes for about 2 weeks and it has worked great -- just a few crashes that have been resolved in 1.0.3. My biggest complaints are around the UI elements. There really needs to be more customization of the look and feel -- the black background and large fonts/icons just don't work for me. I'd also like to see native FTP/SFTP support, not just through MacFuse. Overall, Changes is very functional, stable, and relatively complete for a version 1.x. Looking forward to the next major revision, hopefully it'll have some UI improvements. [alert admin]

iBank 2.2.2 (Mac OS X)

Much Better Than Quicken

I've been looking for a replacement for Quicken for over a year now. Quicken, while feature complete, is not very Mac-like and not very intuitive for simple tasks like copying a set of transactions from one register to another. iBank has worked very well for me over the past month, and I just took the plunge and bought it. It's UI is top notch, performance is excellent, and it has all the features I'm looking for and implements them in a much better way that Quicken. I've only had one crash with iBank and no data was lost. Exporting all my Quicken data and importing it into iBank took less than five minutes (the import itself was just a few seconds...not sure why it took so long for one of the other reviewers). I highly encourage anyone to take a good look a iBank...it's a well-designed app. [alert admin]
