I had a minor issue when trying the 1.5 alpha in that my old registered serial number wouldn't work. Read me said to e-mail, so I did. Ryan not only responded with an updated serial number, but was also very receptive to my suggestions and let me know that an even newer version was just posted. The option-drag feature now shows useful (and very accurate) range figures. Upcoming GPS features are going to be great. I've had a great time with this software and can say that for me it was well worth the reasonable price. I feel good about supporting developers like this. [alert admin]

Amen, ditto, exactamundo! Simple and exactly what I need. Thanks for giving us this great little tool. I really like the color and opacity options. Great job! [alert admin]

Macromedia FreeHand MX 11.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Crash, crash, crash. Corrupt documents. Deadline looms. I'm so angry right now I can't even put it into printable words. F*** Macromedia, these last few have been worse and worse. Stop adding junk and moving things around -- fix what's there and make it freakin' work! How could you make me hate you so much after 12 years? Do I hate Adobe less? Right now I do. [alert admin]

Clutter 1.0d14 (Mac OS X)
I second that Panzer fix. After switching that option all is happy in Clutterland again. This is one of the greatest little enhancements I've ever used. Highly recommended! [alert admin]

Clutter 1.0d14 (Mac OS X)
This is what I always hope for, but rarely get, when I download a freeware widget to make the evening more entertaining. Absolutely the coolest add-on for iTunes I've seen. Works well for me on a high-speed line. Some of it's subtleties are really nice: contextual menu letting you select any of the songs on the album, the desktop covers being remembered after a shut down, the bowser, and the ability to scale them up and down for comfort with your screen size. All in all, very well done and much appreciated! [alert admin]

GPS Connect 0.2 (Mac OS X)
Very cool. A simple app that simply works just like it says with my Garmin eTrex Vista. I feel much better about backing up my waypoints and having a bit better control over editing them. Nice interface and it connected right up using the included Garmin eTrex cabling with a PDA serial adapter going into a Keyspan serial>USB adapter. I only wish there were more great GPS software for OS X. Good job! [alert admin]

WindowShade X 3.0p (Mac OS X)
Does what I've expected it to do (...and, of course, really expected Apple to do!), and does it very, very well. I don't like giving full five-star ratings, but this utility just goes above and beyond for me, and I can't find any fault. The new "minimize-in-place" is very cool and I'm starting to use it a lot. Good pref pane, good stability. I happily paid for this on the last version and am glad to see it moving along. Unsanity seems to do good work, as I've used Labels X and Metallifizer with similarly good results. Way to go, Unsanity! [alert admin]

GyazMail 0.9.9.8 (Mac OS X)
I really have to thank the developer for this one. I switched our small company to a Linux host only to discover to my horror that their mail server wasn't compatible with whatever communication protocol Mail.app is using. This thing saved my bacon in an emergency, but much to my surprise we've continued using it for about two months. It's great! Works well, stable, easy to configure -- and snappy! My only gripe is the lack of html mail support as we get quite a few we need to see, so we just double-click the little html Safari icon and view it in the browser. Not the end of the world. Please keep up the development of this app, you deserve to kick the boy's butts. Thanks again. [alert admin]

Marine Aquarium X 1.1.2 (Mac OS X)
I made a valid point, but it doesn't apply to you now that I read your last post. Are you in OS 9 or X? I've only used it in X, but it seems fine other than the app being broken under 10.2. Might try posing the question on a forum. [alert admin]

Cheapshot; if you aren't willing to update your hardware (when this year's is almost twice as fast as last year's), why would you assume an app designed to take advantage of current processor power would run well on an older machine? This is a really outstanding screen effect on my late '99 B&W G3 450 with stock video. On a year-old Ti 550 it works well using Desktop Effects as well. No, the standalone app doesn't work under 10.2, but at least it's available for both 9 and 10.2! Never thought I'd pay for a screensaver. Worth it during zone breaks. -- MN [alert admin]
