Active Timer 1.3.2 (Mac OS X)

Very good app, but needs some improvements

I like this little application quite a lot. The basic functionality works very well and is very useful for gathering this kind of information. Exporting to .csv is great for saving out those times for later. However, I see a lot of room for improvement here, if the author is willing to put in a little more work. For one. I would love to see some sort of exclusion function. For example, it would be nice to be able to say, exclude Finder, or maybe some other applications from being captured. We really don't need to see how long we spent in certain applications. But make it a user set preference on what to include and it'll be great. Also, why does the app capture itself in the timers? That seems silly. Why would I care how long I spent in the preferences of the application, or in the main window? It just clutters up the view. Also, it would be great if we could export only apps that we select, rather than the whole shebang. This function may not be necessary if we could exclude apps from being captured (point one above) Lastly, someone commented on making it a menu item, at least as an option. I think that would be good too, if it's possible to do with this kind of application. If the developer could do these things, I think I could even convince my company to buy licenses of it, even though it's currently offered for free. We've been looking for something that can do this, and this comes close, but is not quite close enough for us to pay for it yet. [alert admin]

PandoraMan 1.0.10 (Mac OS X)

Great little app

I love this app and I love Pandora. Thank you for this. However, this latest version has a small bug in it that I hope gets fixed in the next release. This never used to happen in the older versions, but if you use Pandora's menu to try to search for a song in iTunes Store, instead of opening a browser window to redirect you to iTunes, it attempts to open the URL inside the mini window, which effectively stops the music from playing and goes nowhere (stalls). You have to quit and relaunch Pandoraman to get it going again. It's annoying, but not a show stopper. I just hope they address it sometime. [alert admin]

RAIDaid 1.10 (Mac OS X)

Nice, but a little much

I agree with brandonedling below. This is a nice application, but it seems a little expensive considering most people will get use of this at most, once or twice a year. I mean, how often is the average server admin configuring XServe RAIDs? It might be more usefull if you happen to be an Apple Server consultant who runs around and helps clients configure XServes and XServe RAIDs. For anyone else, it won't be used nearly as much. Beyond that one issue, this is a nice, well designed and helpful application. Even with the demo restrictions, I was able to see how it could be helpful in determining the best use of RAiD configs and disk space. Consider coming down just a little in price to around the $12.95-$14.95 range and I'd buy it. Even if I did only use it once or twice a year. [alert admin]

PandoraMan 1.0.6 (Mac OS X)

Yep, Pandora broke this

I was using this little gem all the time, but it's now broken due to the fact that Pandora changed the location of the miniplayer, so this app is pointing to something that no longer exists where it was. I hope an update comes out soon. Should be a simple fix. For now, I guess I'm opening a separate browser to play Pandora. [alert admin]

BatchOutput 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Can't get it to work

I'm unable to get this script/application to work (using the downloadable demo). I followed the instructions and copied the BatchOutput app to my ID CS2 folder and have the script inside the scripts folder so it shows up in the palette, but when I double-click the script nothing happens. Well, actually I get the beachball for about 1 second, then nothing. I quit and relaunched ID several times but no go. I'd really like to get this to work. If it does, my company might consider purchasing multiple licenses. I'm trying version 1.2. [alert admin]

Adobe Illustrator CS 11.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Say what?

What kind of crazy "updater" is this? The manual type? Control click on application and create folders, etc etc. I can't believe Adobe would make its users do something like this! How about an actual "installer" updater? Jeez! The advice below is sound. My Illustrator CS works fine. I'm skipping this "update". Adobe, you should ashamed of yourselves for releasing something like this! [alert admin]

Labels X 1.6 (Mac OS X)

Alright!

Wow, I had nearly given up on ever seeing an update to Labels X. Since Panther includes an admittedly poor implementation of labels, I thought Unsanity decided to shelve it. But this improves upon Apple's labels, since you can change both colors and names of labels, as well as turn off that terrible striping in list view if you so choose. Thanks for the great update Unsanity! [alert admin]

ShapeShifter 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Great update but…

is it just me? This version claims to be able to skin individual applications. Maybe I'm dumb, but I don't see anyway to do that. I've read through all the documentation, and the only thing I see is a way to exclude applications from being affected. I sincerely hope that's not what they meant here. Anyone know how to do this?
