Cyberduck 2.8.3 (Mac OS X)
It's free as in speech, beautiful, a joy to use and the developer is very helpful. [alert admin]

Cyberduck 2.8 (Mac OS X)
Cyberduck is superb, and as a web developer it's one of my main tools. [alert admin]

Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection 2.0b1 (Mac OS X)
Had to force-quit it after my first session, but it's nice to have Vista support. For a great free alternative with a much better interface, try CoRD. It currently lacks Vista/Server 2008 support, but for XP/Server 2003 it's superb. [alert admin]

Cyberduck 2.7.3 (Mac OS X)
Grab version 2.8b1 from http://cyberduck.ch/ instead, it's much faster than 2.7.3 and very stable. [alert admin]

Camino 1.5 (Mac OS X)
If you're having problems, read this from the Camino support forum: "If Camino 1.5 crashes on startup, you have an old version of 1passwd installed; all versions of 1passwd prior to the current version are incompatible with Camino 1.5. Please upgrade to the latest version of 1passwd (2.4.2 or newer), or completely remove 1passwd, including any pieces installed in /Library/InputManagers, ~/Library/InputManagers, /Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins or ~/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins. If Camino 1.5 will not load any pages, you have an old version of CaminoSession installed. CaminoSession is incompatible with Camino 1.5 and Camino 1.5 includes most of CaminoSession's functionality, so you should completely remove CaminoSession, including any pieces installed in /Library/InputManagers or ~/Library/InputManagers." OpenOffice.org Aqua 20070524 (Mac OS X)
This is a Development Preview of the Aqua version of OpenOffice.org. VersionTracker doesn't point this out, which is unfortunate. Here's a (pretty long) list of known issues: http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/buglist.cgi?keywords=aqua The Beta version is due out at the end of 2007 according to the current timeline: http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/timeline.html [alert admin]

Firefox 2.0.0.4 (Mac OS X)
If you're experiencing any sort of major issue with Firefox (pages not loading properly, and other weird behaviour), there's a VERY good chance that some add-on is causing problems. Try starting Firefox in safe mode and disable any add-ons/themes that may be causing problems. This is done by opening the Terminal and entering: /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -safe-mode Adjust the path as needed if you've installed Firefox in another location. Firefox's add-on feature is great, but a buggy add-on can also seriously mess things up. [alert admin]

Coda 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
I tried Coda as a replacement for my usual tools (TextMate, Firefox with Firebug and Cyberduck) and I didn't like it. - Too much eye candy makes it feel sluggish - Code editor isn't good enough - Previewing in Safari isn't ideal - No markup analysis tool likeFirebug or Xylescope provides [alert admin]

I find that approach is less intuitive. After all, the Finder is for navigating your computer's files and you're used to it. I think two-paned FTP clients like Transmit just waste precious screen space.

Thanks for pointing that out. In this context it makes buckets of sense that he would prefer that.

Maybe he prefers spending time with his family instead of spending it coding history plugins for ungrateful people who complain about free software? That's my guess.

Sounds like you either have a broken extension or a broken profile. The Mozilla site has some troubleshooting info: http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/faq.html#troubeshoot-addons

Sounds like you're having issues related to a previous installation. Try trashing /Users/<your name>/Library/Application Support/Firefox.
