PithHelmet 3.0b2 (Mac OS X)

PithHelmet is back

I have missed it, since it's the only ad blocker I know of that works silently in the background and doesn't pop up questions every few seconds. I was sad when the previous beta worked neither with Safari 32 or 64 bit, but this version works correctly with my 64 bit Safari. I will wait patiently for the smoothing of the jagged edges and the addition of a proper preference pane, I understand that this is a lot of work for Mike Solomon, and I want to congratulate him on the great effort he has made so far, thank you Mike. Microsoft Office 2008 12.1.9 (Mac OS X)

Constant request to access Keychain

New and troubling behavior since the Office update: Every time Entourage tries to collect mail, it asks to be allowed to access Keychain saying "The authenticity of Microsoft Entourage cannot be verified. Do you want to allow access to this item?". All passwords are correct and I have checked "always allow", but it insists on asking for each of my accounts every time. I have Entourage set to check my accounts every ten minutes, but since I have to manually allow it to access my Keychain, the automatic collection of mail is useless. [alert admin]

PTHPasteboard PRO 4.4.0 (Mac OS X)

Too easy to erase

I bought Pasteboard, after using it for almost a year and I have managed to erase my boards twice. I have emailed the developer with a request to put the eraser somewhere where it cannot be accessed by accident, but I have had no response. On the whole, this is a most useful app, but it has some quirks that make it unreliable, and the ease of erasing months of work is dangerous. Feedback from the developer would be appreciated. Camino 1.6.4 (Mac OS X)

Does not play well with MobileMe

Camino has been my browser of choice for the past few years, but this new version, 1.6.4, will not load my calendar pages in MobileMe and makes the entire site freeze. I reverted to 1.5.5 and have had no further no trouble. [alert admin]

TimeMachineScheduler 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Responsive developer

I had a small problem with the app, it wasn't clear to me that I had to turn TM off in order for the TMS to work. The developer answered my email almost immediately and was helpful. The application works as advertised, the only fault I find is that when I wanted to eject my external, it wouldn't eject, although TM was not running at the time. I had to turn the external off, which is never a good idea, but the data don't seem to have been corrupted (this time). If this little glitch can be fixed, I would certainly give the full five stars. Firefox 2.0.0.6 (Mac OS X)

cannot see content

Any page I try to load shows up in a quarter-inch band on the left side of the window, and nothing I do will expand it so I can see the whole page. [alert admin]

Boot ROM version unchanged

Thanks, but wouldn't it be nice if this was specifically mentioned? Neither download told me that, and SU usually installs after downloading, so this was unexpected behavior. I did ultimately find out that I needed to install it, and that went well.

Wow! - Another update.

Actually, you can have Caps Warn flash an icon in your menu bar as well, it's configurable in several different ways.

Wow! - Another update.

There's a program called Caps Warn that will let you know if your caps lock is on or off. It beeps when the caps lock key is pressed - saves me from retyping stuff all the time - it's well worth the money (free!)
