PicMark 1.0 (Mac OS X)

It Works

This a handy ap for watermarking photos. I share photos all the time and know that occasionally, one image is worthy of putting my name on it. Thanks to the developer for offering this ap as freeware. I predict it will be used by many. It took me a few minutes (not many) to figure out what and how to use the ap. After a couple of successful attempts, it will be second nature to use it again. I like the ability to create the watermark in the same ap. For those that want to know, option-g is the copyright symbol in most if not all fonts. [alert admin]

Firefoxy 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)

Helpful and easy

Does the trick! Makes many of Firefox's quirky graphic elements much more palatable. A much nicer look and made easy with Firefoxy. Thanks. [alert admin]

Smell-O-Mints 2.2 (Mac OS X)

Good Product

Helps keep my kids fans of the Mac . . . not that their iPods and iTunes are also helping! Let's them know that science isn't all bad. Thanks. Thanks for taking over this Stimpsoft product. [alert admin]

MenuCalendarClock for Entourage 1.6.2 (Mac OS X)

I Tried It - Great Idea, Doesn't Work for me

I tried this application. It is a nice idea and seemingly well packaged. However, it tied up my system, consuming 100% CPU resources. When I forcefully quit the application, it left Entourage consuming 100% CPU resources. After four attempts, I'm not sure what causes the application to spin out of control. The last act that appeared to cause a problem was changing one of the preferences (Right side - left side) from Right to Left and when changing back to Right again, it never recovered. Didn't get a chance to use it throughout a full day (and see what resources it consumes). Great idea, though! [alert admin]

Font Safari 1.0b27 (Mac OS X)

You shouldn't use "Safari" in the application name

You shouldn't use "Safari" in the application name. The term "Safari" is a live trademark held by Apple. Using in this way is potentially confusing. I was confused about the source and quality of your product when I saw it listed in Version Tracker. In the US, Apple's trademark is 78200789. If you feel you can ethically and legally use the term Font in conjunction with Safari for an application that runs on a Macintosh, you should try to have it trademarked so others don't infringe on you. Visit http://www.uspto.gov . [alert admin]

MenuCalendarClock for Entourage 1.6.0b6 (Mac OS X)

Why is this hack going to the Internet on start?

Why does MenuCalendarClock Entourage want to connect to hsp-51.hspserver.com on TCP port 80? This hangs and requires a Force Quit if no internet connection -- more importantly, it shouldn't be connecting to anything without asking me first. [alert admin]

How Can You Call This SHAREWARE? It is COMMERCIAL.

Does anyone remember what shareware is and why it is different than commercial software? It looks like Unwiredtec does NOT. [alert admin]

Kerio MailServer 6.0.5 (Mac OS X)

WORST UPDATE EVER

This update has caused havoc on my server. 1. This update buggered all email account passwords. 2. This update sent mail to users that wasn't their own mail. 3. This update sent mail to users with subjects that didn't match message bodies. 4. This update contains an administration console that caused the ONLY kernel panic I've had in 24 months on my PB AL 15" 1.25GHz. This is definitely NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME. Stay away. Other than these catastrophic troubles, the ap is pretty good. [alert admin]

ARGH

I agree that is has flaws. It is unstable for several sites. I have to use Safari for a couple of transactional sites. Mozilla 1.7.3 is more stable but a bit more weighty. Firefox is a good product, and for the price, a real bargin. Anything that reduces the dominance of IE will reduce marginalization of Macs. And, that is a good thing.

Who even uses AOL anymore ?

What's your point? the objective here is to comment on the software, not the world at large, or the service. There are plenty of other places to do that. If you don't like AOL then vote with your feet and wallet - don't buy it. That should be message enough.

eUpdate simply doesn't work!

Exactly when did you first suspect that MacAfee was uninterested in the Macintosh? Recently or five or six years ago when it was apparent to the rest of the Mac world?

You shouldn't use "Safari" in the application name

Not so. By your logic, I could make a boat, a bicycle, and an aeroplane called Ford or Saab or Audi and all would be okay. Not so. A work mark can infringe on another mark (in this case, a registered mark) if it confuses. As importantly, if the mark confuses and is applied to a similar application, it infringes. Why do you think Apple Computer and Apple Records are debating this topic as you…

Long filenames?

The MS Office vX file naming limitation was caused by Apple's original spec for OS X. Apple changed the file naming limit after Office vX went to gold and MS chose not to change the file naming capability until Office 2004.

Stay away from this

I have found the opposite experience with Kerio. True, the company serves the Windows community but I've found no better service for the Macintosh community. The technical support staff are untiring in their efforts to diagnose and help me to solve several issues. Kerio is quick to issue updates when a problem is found. I, too, have used them all and KMS beats all. I have retired my Tenon installations in favor of Kerio. There…

Steam-era app!

How exactly would one send a fax through via DSL? This is a novel concept but impractical. To reach the receiving fax, one must get from their MAC or PC to the *plain old telephone service* network, or POTS. DSL travels over POTS circuits between the subscriber/client and the central office but doesn't really ever connect TO the plain old telephone service (i.e., the analog network). Keep dreaming. You may hit on something practical one…
