FileXaminer 2.5.9 (Mac OS X)
Just noticed that the Finder info box still says version 2.5.8. The "About FileXaminer ..." dialog does say 2.5.9. [alert admin]

Live Deskpicture X 3.0.3 (Mac OS X)
The program works exactly as advertised, and always impresses my Windows-using colleagues when I hook the Mac up to a projector for a conference room briefing and display my desktop. The author is also very responsive. After getting my MacBook, I realized that the map did not scale properly with the new screen dimensions. The author replied to my email and sent me an update in fairly short order so I could test it on my laptop. The update worked perfectly. I'm not sure why it hasn't appeared here, but I'm now running version 3.0.4, which supports the 13-inch MacBook screen. [alert admin]

24 Countdown Widget 1.1 (Mac OS X)
This widget looks great, and true 24 fanatics will love it and certainly appreciate it (my daughter screamed when she saw it). Of course, the first thing she said was "How can they be counting down, when Fox hasn't announced the premiere date for Season Six?" That got me thinking that it would be great if there would be an entry field in the back of the widget where you could enter the target date and time, rather than having it be hard-wired. Then my nutty daughter could keep on using it to count down to EACH EPISODE once the season gets under way. [alert admin]

SuperBrain 1.0.4 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Nicely done. Since gameplay is very quick and entirely mouse-driven, it would be very handy to have a clickable button for "New Game". Please consider adding one in a future revision. Oh, and for any of you who haven't figured out how to get any colors other than green -- just keep clicking! It's explained in the application help. [alert admin]

Apple AirPort 3.4 (Mac OS X)
No Airport Base Station -- should I upgrade S/W?
Is there *any* benefit with this upgrade if you are not using an Apple airport base station? I have a couple of iMacs and an iBook with a mix of Airport and Airport Extreme cards, but my base station is a third-party wireless router (802.11b). What will upgrading the airport software do for me? [alert admin]

CharView 1.3 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
to have more flexibiltiy in displaying the character table; v1.4 seems like a step backward. Also, has anyone noticed that this app is a total CPU hog in OS X? Run CPU Monitor and then launch CharView. It seems to use up a lot of CPU cycles for just sitting there displaying a font table, even in background. Something's not right. [alert admin]

SPYYYYYKE: repeated clicks in one position cycle through all the colors. If you couldn't stumble on this yourself, then you would have learned it from reading the instructions that are accessible through the "Help" menu.

So where is it capturing the audio from? ![]()

Think about what it means to re-encode the analog audio stream. That would take a hardware A-to-D converter, not software. So unless WireTap is somehow managing to route the analog output back to an analog input to a built-in A/D (such as would be used for the microphone), it's very unlikely that WireTap is doing anything other than the much more straightforward approach of intercepting the digitized audio before it gets to the…

Very nice of you to pay for it twice. If you were a registered user of the OS9 version, you didn't need to purchase it again. My registration key back from when it was called Reminder Pro worked just fine.
