Easy DMG 1.5 (Mac OS X)
VERY USABLE (contrary to what h.schweitzer said) ![]()

Exactly what I needed, and works without a hitch. If I want to make a DMG file with Apple's Disk Utility, the minimum size it will create is 550 KB. Way too big for some uses, like when I give away free OS X icons (usually 120-160 KB).
Always makes me wonder about someone like h.schweitzer who reviewed it as NOT USEABLE but didn't say why. A quick look at his posts reveal that this is the only post he ever made. Hmmm.
Maybe he's a disgrutled app developer who was selling something similar and his sales have plunged. In any event, something doesn't seem right.
If you want to see how well EasyDMG works, come download some of my icons at: http://matre.com [alert admin]

LiteIcon 1.2.2 (Mac OS X)
No reviews? Well, why didn't you write the first?
I have to agree with AppleGeek. My question, gudrick, is why would you take the time to make such a comment?
People on this site are more apt to warn their Mac-using friends of bad applications than they are to come back and state an application works as described. I rarely comment on something unless it surpasses my expectations, especially if the developer is giving it away.
But if I try out something that crashes, I will usually test it on another Mac first, especially if there were no comments about crashing. If I get consistant crashes, I'll contact the developer before coming here to report it. There are too many pure Mac amateurs who will blast an app knowing almost nothing about permissions, UNIX housekeeping, etc.
I consulted with Fortune 500 companies for too many years to feel like I could judge something in a five-minute test. To me, "no reviews" most likely means no one has found anything terribly wrong with it.
But in any event, all software I try gets tested on a sandbox. Even if it takes everything down, I only lost a little time.
I have a licensed copy of CandyBar, so I'll be able to give this a good review. CandyBar isn't perfect, just like every other piece of software available. But generally, it works fine. The developer of CandyBar will be the one to hate this app the most. [alert admin]

Paparazzi! 0.4.3 (Mac OS X)
Paparazzi! is excellent for creating a bitmap, but what if you need something more?
I gave Paparazzi! v0.2.3 a 5-star rating back in 2005 ... and it's still a 5-star app.
If you need the full-page length like Paparazzi! provides, but would prefer a PDF (so you can copy and paste text, as an example) you may want to check if SafariStand would make a good addition to your arsenal.
http://versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/26421
I use both. Some readers said SafariStand slowed down Safari. I have not experienced that, since I usually have Firefox and Safari running side-by-side. The thing is, SafariStand can do much, much more than simply capture web pages in their entirety. A lot more. But you can select which options to turn on and off. I only use a few features, so maybe using a lot has a negative effect.
SafariStand is an input manager, so when Safari loads, so does it, appearing in the menu bar as: "Stand"
To install, you simply place the folder like so:
user/Library/InputManagers/SafariStand
... then re-launch Safari if it's open. Once set up, you simply right-click on any web page (except mine ;) and a new option appears at the bottom of the contextual menu, which reads: "Export to PDF..."
Too simple, too cool. Couldn't live without it.

USB Missile Launcher NZ 1.4a (Mac OS X)
The product info above speaks to those who already know what the missile launcher is (i.e., the informed), but provides no information to the rest of us (i.e., the uninformed) as to what it is and where one would obtain said missile launcher so as to find use for the above software. Thanks. [alert admin]

Yep 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)
I sent those first two post (FreeWare and Who is) from a Palm TX over WiFi.
I deliberately sent only one copy of each post ... the other two must have been resent when I used the browser's history list. That was the first and last time I'll attempt to use my Palm with Version Tracker. The mystery contributor remains unexplainable.
But when I just logged in on my Mac, and attempted to delete the duplicate entries, VT gave me error messages, so I could not clean up this mess. I'm sending a note to the VT tech wizards after this.

FreeWare vs. DonationWare vs. ShareWare vs. ...
"Note: This version (1.1) is free but we will, at some point, have to start charging. We haven't nailed down exactly when that will be though." - Developer's Web Site
I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like a very useful app, at least for my arsenal. With that said, and considering your comment above, make it Shareware with a free 30-day trial.
Suggestion: offer it for $10 USD ... the lower the price, the more people will be willing to pay for it.
Consumers who find it useful will pay a reasonable fee. Personnally I, as a consumer, want you to be motivated to continue development ... good development takes time, and we all need to eat.
Free software is always nice, but not at the expense of the developer losing interest, or waiting too long and charging too much. IMHO ; ) [alert admin]

RE: Sorry, Mac - Version: 3.1.8, 10/8/2006 09:26AM PST jm10r It appears this is another non-Mac application. Sorry Mac users. You're not invited. Or wanted, apparently. I'll take my money elsewhere.
WRONG ... I assume that jm10r's gripe is based on his apparent desire to slam companies that aren't providing 'sit' downloads. Looking at his 10 most recent posts, only one is positive, and the rest seem to follow that 'sit' theme.
CORRECT ... So, allow me to correct the unfair comment by jm10r: Pocket Tunes is very Mac-friendly
In my home, I have five Macs and one Sony Vaio. I use the Sony primarily for scanning and testing. As a Mac user since 1984, the Macs perform all my other computing chores, especially those which are very processor-intensive.
I have architected hybrid networks for large corporations and ad agencies, so, relatively speaking, I'm one of the few who is quite at home on either platform. But when it comes down to preference, the Mac wins in every conceivable category. Nothing beats a Mac.
My experience seems to show that those who only work on one platform are the loudest critics of the other platform. My experience has also shown that any PC user required to use a Mac a work, will usually cry and moan until they get their feet wet ... then they never look back.
DOWNLOAD TO MAC ... So, here is the one instruction for those wanting to download pTunes to a Mac (or PC users who prefer a zip file) ... just use this link:
http://www.pocket-tunes.com/?page=download
If jm10r had only focussed over to the left navigation bar on the page he arrived at, he would have seen another download link. And no, I am not affiliated with any software or hardware company. I just wonder how many Mac-users would read his comment and move on, simply because it is stated with such authority.
I have a Palm TX that came with Pocket Tunes preinstalled. I have downloaded every update since then (to a Mac), and using Missing Sync, uploaded it to my TX. And Missing Sync also allows pTunes to sync with iTunes.
So frankly, it's a solid Palm app ... I really can't think of anything it's weak in. It's not an iPod, but then an iPod isn't a Palm, either.
DON'T FORGET THE SKINS ... Make sure to check out all the available skins for pTunes. Many good ones are free. You can start your skin search by checking out ...

My favorite skin is the WinAmp ...
