Apple iTunes 9.0 (Mac OS X)
Finally finished - some nice changes ![]()

After almost 14 hours, iTunes finally finished its process of working on "determining gapless playback information". I cannot say this thrilled me but at least, now that it has finished, everything in iTunes appears to work. PROS: larger & clearer font in Cover Flow view (very nice), application manager in iPhone area (let's you rearrange apps), larger & clearer font in iPhone module CONS: backing up data during my first iPhone sync took a LONG time - I don't know if this will only happen the first time. Let's see how this works... [alert admin]

Still waiting for iTunes to finish "Determining Gapless Playback Information". In my opinion, this is a MAJOR screw-up by someone at Apple. Anyone care to speculate what the problem is?? [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 9.0 (Mac OS X)
Still not finished - 4 hours and counting...
Just to update everyone - my iTunes 9.0 is STILL "Determining Gapless Playback Information". It's been doing this for FOUR HOURS! I called Apple, and they don't know what's going on either. Hopefully, it will finish before I go to bed... [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 9.0 (Mac OS X)
Hangs on startup - analyzing gapless playback info
Will not stop - no way to cancel it - hangs - this is crazy. At the rate it's going, it will take hours to finish. [alert admin]

Apple AirPort Utility 5.4.2 (Mac OS X)
I ran this update on two different computers, a dual 2.0 G5 and a MacBook Pro.
On the G5, the auto update feature of the Airport Utility wanted to launch Classic. Tried this multiple times with the same result. Downloading and running the updater manually worked fine.
The problems were on the MacBook Pro. I used Software Update, and also updated QuickTime & iTunes at the same time. Ran the updates, then rebooted.
After reboot, EVERYTHING crashed (Airport Utility, Safari, Firefox, Disk Utility, Crash Reporter, etc) - all of them crashed.
Finally shut down the computer and re-booted with verbose logging (command-V) at startup. Then things seem to work (at least for now).
Did someone test this thing before it was released???? [alert admin]Read Comments (5) | More Info | 1 of 6 users found this helpful

Fetch 5.5 (Mac OS X)
I gladly purchased the upgrade for this software since I've used it and I know that it's stable & reliable. I don't know if VersionTracker allows the developer to list an upgrade cost. I don't know if they do and the developer neglected to post this. I think it would be helpful to VersionTracker users to see this information so there are no surprises. Firefox 3.0 (Mac OS X)
Seems to run OK - LogMeIn does NOT work with it. ![]()

I checked this one out tonight on my MPB running 10.5.3. Everything runs fine (except a few extensions and themes), the application seems snappy, and I do like the new UI. One thing that is a deal-breaker for me is an incompatibility with LogMeIn. It does not work using LogMeIn's default remote control method, Active-X (crashes Firefox 3), but using Java does work - sort of (the graphics are broken up and unusable). For that reason, I'll not be using this version until that's fixed. Otherwise, I'd recommend it, since it seems to work pretty well. [alert admin]

Apple Boot Camp 2.1 (Mac OS X)
I've used both Apple Software Update and downloaded the stand-alone installer for this update and it WILL NOT INSTALL. I also tried downloading the installer through Software Update, then running it. Still would not work.
I've tried multiple times, each installation attempt failing with a very cryptic error message (1603) and no indication of what went wrong.
I turned on Microsoft Installer Logging, which gave me alot of information I don't know how to use. Perhaps someone else knows what to do with this information...
Anyone know what the deal is with this puppy?

HamachiX 1C3 (Mac OS X)
The system requirements for this say Intel or PPC, but the Kernel Extensions provided with this package are Intel only, making it basically useless you have an Intel Mac. Either the developer needs to resolve this or VersionTracker needs to change the listed requirements. Thanks, [alert admin]

upgrade means buy the package again
The problem with Digital River and the price problem (which their customer service denied the first time I called), now appears to be resolved, as I just purchased the upgrade for $29.99.
