obfuscatr 1.1.0 (Mac OS X)
I've been using this for a while. It generates a little encrypted javascript thingy that you put in your html instead of a mailto tag. The result on the webpage looks like a mailto, but the source as seen by the spambots, is unintelligible. If the person reading your webpage has java disabled, they see a blank space where your address should be. But less than 1% of my visitors have java turned off, so this isn't a problem. I use it, I like it, and I recommend it. It's simple, easy to use, it works really well, and it's free! [alert admin]

EmptyTrashNow 2.0 (Mac OS X)
Even better -- hold down the Command and Shift keys, then press Delete. Trash is emptied instantly. No download needed ... it's built into your Mac! You don't even need to have a Finder window open. Try it: Download this app, put it in the trash, and CMD-SHIFT-DELETE ... it's gone! [alert admin]

Inquisitor 3.0 (v49) (Mac OS X)
InputManagers f name changed by installer, broke other pgms!
When I installed Inquisitor v3.0(v49), *something* changed the name of my "~/Library/InputManagers" folder to "~/Library/InputManagers-Tiger". Now, Inquisitor works, but Safari Block and Safari Plus, (the other two items in that folder) don't work any more! Hmmm. It had to have been Inqisitor's installer that did that to me, else Inquisitor wouldn't work either. So I created a new "~/Library/InputManagers" folder and moved Safari Blocker and SafariPlus into it, restarted Safari, and now all three programs work just fine. I don't like it when some program, however useful it may be, thinks it's okay to change the names of folders on my computer. That's just plain rude behaviour. [alert admin]

Science Centric Widget 1.1 (Mac OS X)
It takes up a lot of my (laptop) dashboard space. If it were shorter, showing only three lines of text, I would still have room to squeeze in one more widget. The text field scrolls, so why show nine lines? [alert admin]

Subjectivity 1.0 (Mac OS X)
The installer failed with an "Installation Failed" error message. I installed the bundle manually per the instructions in the readme. (Quit Mail. Copy bundle to folder. Copy & paste two lines in Terminal.) and it works just fine. When I tested it, the default subject was the first few words of the message, just as advertised. Disk usage (a very tiny portion of my 160 GB) vs. price (free) is a good tradeoff. Thank you! [alert admin]

Football Widget 1.1 (Mac OS X)
NFC WEST Standings are missing!
NFC East shows up twice (once as East, once as North) Choosing NFC South shows standings for North. Choosing NFC West shows standings for South. My wife is a *serious* SF 49ers fan, and would like to see the NFC West included in this widget. We're hoping for a bug-fix revision ... [alert admin]

Protection 1.0b2 (Mac OS X)
I installed this and like it, Most of the install procedure is in French, but is obvious to anyone who's installed programs before. I was a little confused because there are two installers, and because the program is hidden deep inside the Mac so I couldn't see what I had done. 1.) Run the main installer from the disk image. Click the usual "I accept" boxes. You can choose "English" from the dropdown menu, but most of the proceedure is still in French anyway. 2.) Run the second installer on the left side of the disk image. (I first thought this was the uninstaller, but managed to figure out I was supposed to click it to finish the installation. There's enough English on the screen to make that apparent if you actually read it instead of looking at the big icons.) 3.) In the dialog box that appears, type in a User Name, which is also your Username. I thought I was registering the program, so I used my FirstName LastName with a space between them. Fortunately this worked (later) when I had to log into their website console to set up the protection. 4.) The second box is choose a "mot de passe" which is obviously your password. The third box is your email address. 5.) You will immediately recieve an email with the link to their website console, from which you administer Protection. The email and website are in English. Camino plays well with others.
I've been using various builds Camino with various versions of OS X almost forever, and have never noticed any compatibility problems at all. Nothing freezes, nothing's broken, other apps run concurrently with no issues. Camino is my #2 browser these days, having moved Firefox down to #3.

grh_svo doesn't have an Applications folder. He has partitioned his HD to have an apps *partition*, and complains when an app creates an Applications folder for him. (I guess this foils those horrid fascist developers, at the expense of having a working system.) I read his comment history ... quite a mix!

1.) Your "iAlertU" password silences the alarm and disarms your Mac. 2.) You should "Pair" your remote w/ your Mac even if you don't use this program, I've accidentally launched Front Row on nearby Macs with my remote when the owners hadn't taken this security precaution.

I had not heard about this, and was skeptical, so I did a google search and found (to my surprise) the Objective Development Forum discussion of apps that bypass LS. http://forums.obdev.at/viewtopic.php?t=577 I'm a longtime LS user, and didn't even know there was an ObDev forum.

The product is not meant to work with 10.5. The list above has 10.4 intel & PPC as the maximum supported configuration. We'll have to wait for the Leopard upgrade to Firefox.

You can always manually re-encode the output by feeding it through again. Just make sure to do it an even number of times, because the odd iterations are more prone to casual decryption.
