KidsGoGoGo X 9.3 (Mac OS X)

Best parental control for the Mac

Since I have young children, I have tried virtually every parental control software for the Mac. That includes the built in controls in Tiger. This program is the best one by far. Apple would do well to buy this program and incorporate it into OS X. The program is well thought out and by logging into each account you can individualize the program to that user. When you are done, the adminstrator can disable other users from changing their settings. The major draw backs are 1) the manual is translated from Japanese to English and therefore it is hard to understand. 2) The program needs to show you what sites are being blocked. I still will give it 5 stars because it has worked very well in my house. Try and buy this program. [alert admin]

The Computer Cookbook X 3.1 (Mac OS X)

Get off his back

You know that Mac users are very demanding in form, function and ease of use. We tend to put more emphasis in form than function. So what if the GUI does not knock your socks off. Look at what the program does. You take a little extra time to enter you recipes but this gives you the ability to resize your recipes. You have on that serves 6 but need it to serve 2. No problem. Yest the GUI could be nicer but get off Craig's back about the GUI. [alert admin]

CookWare Deluxe 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Missing on major feature

This program is really nice. The interface is extremely nice with easy input. However, this also translate to not being able to resize the recipe. This is a great feature of the Computer Cookbook. Add this ability to this program and this would be a fantastic cookbook. [alert admin]

Palm Desktop 4.2.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

A great improvement

For a company who announced that they were going to drop Mac support this was a surprise. I like this program much better than Apple's Address and iCal. Why use two programs when one can use one? I wish they would do away with the 15 category limit. The program is faster and works well. Palm, please add the needed fixes before closing the Mac developement [alert admin]

LaCie Update Tool 1.1.2 (Mac OS X)

This is strange

When I downloaded and ran version 1.12 updated I was told that I have version 1.38 of the firmware installed. My firewire drive stopped working when I upgated to Jaguar and I had to send my drive bach to LaCie. In repairing the drive LaCie installed version 1.38 of the firmware. If LaCie is returning drives with firmware version 1.38 then why are they releasing update with lower version numbers. Wjat is the difference between version 1.12 and 1.38? Shouldn't LaCie release an update that updates everyone's firmware upto the "latest" update used by LaCie itself? [alert admin]

TiVo Desktop 1.8 (Mac OS X)

Tivo and AAC

This has been a great addition to our Tivo. Unfortunately, I think that Apple will not let Tivo support AAC. It does not make sense because on the Tivo one can only listen to the music and not record it. Isn't that the ultimate copyright protection? [alert admin]

Dantz Retrospect 6.0 (Mac OS X)

Use Silverkeeper

I bought Retrospect for my computer but when version 5.0 came out I was forced to "downgrade" to express because of the upgrade costs. I was not impressed especially with backing up to a CDR. So I switched to SilverKeeper 1.1 by LaCie. It's free. It will backup, synchronize or compare volumes and folders. It will backup to a network volume or an external device. Stop paying money and use a fantastic shareware program like SilverKeeper. [alert admin]

Epson TWAIN and Scan Utility 1.28A (Mac OS X)

This update needs work

I have tried using this updated driver and found two major problems. First, the connection between my G4 and my 1250 is loss. The only way to reestblish connection is to restart. To fix this I had to uninstall and reinstall version 5.75, which is a downgrade. Second problem, the utility only allows one to scan to file and not to print, email or web. That basically makes the utility useless because we still have to use GraphicConverter or Image Preview to print the scanned image. DO NOT INSTALL UNTIL THIS VERSION IS FIXED [alert admin]

Safari would get…

five stars if the program could resize web pages to fit into one screen. Inorder to view an entire page one has scroll down. This happens in all monitor resolutions. [alert admin]

Won't uninstall; no help at all from developer

I have found the correction to be this. Search for an invisible file "zlockpref". Delete file and restart machine. Restart KidsGOGOGO. This will clear your problem. Once I did this all me problems subsided. I have found this to be a really good program. Be mindful that the developer is in Japan and his documentation is not the best. However, I have found this to be the best parental control program…
