x264Encoder 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Just found this and the two other codecs. With x264, the original 22 MB AVC file from the Flip minoHD is now a 4 MB MPEG file. Playable on a G4 Motorola with excellent rendition. Little or no loss in quality of playback from the original. QuickTime Pro is back in the saddle, again. [alert admin]

Word Counter 2.7.1 (Mac OS X)
The app stalls on large files ...
over 180,000 words to my manuscript and I want to know how many unique words to the 'script. Word Counter stalls. Months ago I attempted to write my own script to do the task; one script was fast but very innaccurate, the other script I would've had to left the computer and script running continuously for weeks, and this I could not do. I do know the problems involved in writing the script to give the results I want though. I used Word Counter years ago when my 'script was less than a hundred thousand words, and it did give a number which I rounded off to 9700 unique words. This was cool though I would like an update, and like I mentioned before, I do understand the complexities involved in deriving accurate and unique word counts from large worded tomes. Other word processing applications sudh as Nexus that claim to have an unique word count function cannot handle large files either. The unique word count problem should be posed inside a computer science textbook as a challenge. One will certainly learn alot about programming and code and algorithms attempting to tackle the unique word problem ... giving accurate results fromlarge text files that is. [alert admin]

VolumeNotifier 0.3 (Mac OS X)
And I couldn't delete it after finding it didn't work, or do anything. In Terminal I then ps -aux to find it, then killed its process, and then it did get emptied out of the Trash. [alert admin]

I put this app in gear on OS 10.1.5, G3 750, 366 MHz
The app went on screen and then turned into an x-ray picture, animated! I'll have to upgrade someday ... [alert admin]

Hydromancy 1.2 (Mac OS X)
FLASH! Hydromancy KO's Flurry for reigning Screensaver ...
I still think Flurry is the perfect screensaver for my iBook, though Hydromancy is now going to stay in use as #1 for the foreseeable future. And I can tell already that it'll be the primary screensaver for quite some time. I like screensavers like this alot .`) Thanks. [alert admin]

I have a yearly subscription to Skype and saw this update, but my app didn't register a need for an update when manually checking. Something fishy here ....
