DiskLibrary 1.3 (Mac OS X)

Next Generation

This really is the successor of tools like Disk Tracker and CD Finder. Same concept redone with more modern Cocoa tools. Really nice to have the option to create thumbnail's, although of course creating thumbs. slows down the cataloging significantly. Developer has been very quick to respond to feature requests. Great product. [alert admin]

DeAL 1.6 (Mac OS X)

Agreed

I agree with the comments below. FYI Tri-Backup has all of the features of the OS9 Disk Partitioner. Works quite well. [alert admin]

GarageSale 1.4 (Mac OS X)

balance

This product looks great. calvinho review below just needs to be balanced out. The product supports: Germany, Australia, Austria, Canada, Switzerland, UK, France Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium (FR & NL). If it's not supporting you're country yet you'd probably be better served to email the developer then to rate one star!? Wake Up !!! [alert admin]

Media Catalog 2.7.1 (Mac OS X)

Anemic

I totally agree with Arno's comments below. This app. does not compare to DiskTracker, CD Finder or CDCatalogMaker. It's requires a few clicks just to catalog a disk. Is no faster then the other apps. It's searching capabilities are poor and when it does find something it doesn't bring you straight to the item instead you have to navigate through the folder paths to the item. Since it doesn't allow you to browse a disc at all it doesn't even show you what other items are in a folder with the item you searched for. With DiskTracker you can grab a folder right out of DT and drag it to a different disc or sever volume (as long as the disk is mounted). I'm really not sure what this app would be useful for. DT has all kind of useful features missing from Media Catalog. DT does auto scanning, prints labels, etc.. Save your $15 bucks and buy any of the other 3 programs listed above. [alert admin]

DiskLister Admin 5.0 (Mac OS X)

good idea but...

I really want this to work. I've been looking for something that catalogs DVD's fast and will run over a network for multiple people to have access to search. Unfortunately, when trying to use the demo I can't seem to get the database to catalog anything. I'm using the "emtyOne.dil" and when I drag and drop a DVD over it counts the fiels and then gives me a message that it is "wrinting data into DiskLister database" but the progress bar does not more. So it is either way too slow or not functioning properly. The interface doesn't bother me at all. Think the previous reviewer was too harsh. I'll review again once the demo is workings. DiskCatalogMaker X 3.5 (Mac OS X)

Couple of Requests

1) The Find comand could be improved. I'd like to be able to search by multiple names. (ie name contains "xxx" and/or name contains "xxx") 2) Add the option to import default (built in) thumbnails. Creating custom thumbnails would slow down the program too much but importing existing thumbnails should not.? maybe add a preview palette or prview frame when an image containing a thumbnail is selected thanks [alert admin]

DiskCatalogMaker X 3.5 (Mac OS X)

A little confused

Not sure what  mpbritt  is talking about. You can clearly catalog many DVD-R's ina single catalog window. What's the problem ? [alert admin]

Illumination 1.5.4 (Mac OS X)

Tooooo slow

took a look because of the Radical Breeze post below. I didn't try 1.0, but 1.5.4 is painfully slow at cataloging discs. Seems like it indexs the same info as a Disktracker, CDFinder, etc. but where Disktracker took 10 seconds to catalog a DVD with 2GB of data, Illumination took over 5 minutes ! Also, don't really care for the way it shows the Path information (very windows like) I much prefer DiskCatlog Maker or DiskTracker or CDFinder (all three do a good job) Tri-Catalog is faster and it's building previews. Really don't see any advantage to this app. [alert admin]

DiskCatalogMaker X 3.5b3 (Mac OS X)

Solid

This is an excellent disk catalog program. It is VERY simple to use and very fast. One feature that it posse's that many of it's competitors do not is the ability to catalog a folder not just discs (this can be very useful). There are several programs on the market that catalog disks. DiskCatlogMaker, Disk Tracker, CD Finder are all solid and have been around (OSX around) for some time. It bothers me that CatFinder took so long to go to OSX and it still seems to missing a lot of features. Stick with this one or check out Disk Tracker. My two cents. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.3.6 (Mac OS X)

Safari Fix Welcome

Update worked fine for me. The Safari Time out fix DOES work and is most welcome. Gibson site doesn't display for me either, but it wouldn't under 10.3.5 either. [alert admin]

nothing does it better

Interface may be a bit dated (OS9 looking), but it's certainly not a confusing or difficult interface. Works and looks very much like OS9 finder. There are some features on this utililty that easily make it worth the $30. 1) It has the most powerful search capabilities. Being able to search with many multiple criteria's including "Folder Parent" and "Folder Ancestor" is very powerful. 2) It scans disks VERY fast. 3) It's auto…
