Flip4Mac WMV 2.2.1.7 (Mac OS X)
This version is for the beta. 2.2.0.49 is the current stable release. Since when did VersionTracker start tracking beta software and not actual release updates? If it is a beta release please make it known in the VersionTracker release notes... [alert admin]

D2X (Descent 2) 0.2.6.b9 (Mac OS X)
It may not be well advertised, but D2X 'supports' the original Descent (D1). Just place the D1 files inside the Data directory of D2X.
The gameplay works, but I have noticed some textures to look slightly incorrect.
Then when you select a new game, you will be prompted what scenario to play; Descent 1 or Descent 2 Counter-Strike.
This same method can be used to play other third party mod's; although some do not seem to work 100% or at all even. Remember to still have fun! [alert admin]

Yeah, your mouse mileage may vary :-)
If you have a joystick (a real joystick, not a gamepad) use that.
Otherwise the keyboard is the next best thing. You can use the keypad for up, down, left, right sliding, and barrel rolling etc...
Don't be afraid to tweak the default key config.
You'll be blasting away in no time. [alert admin]

- To turn off iTunes support:
- Uncheck the CDROM audio button inside the sound and music settings
- Try the changing the mouse/joystick sensitivty slider in the Options menu, and get back to me.
YOU DID try that before posting your comments right? :-)
Notice: A new version will be posted soon that hopefully includes 'Vertigo' expansion pack support.
Changes will also include re-adding -noredbook, -nocdrom
d2x.ini flags back into the code. [alert admin]

Download http://www.libsdl.org/release/SDL-1.2.6.pkg.tar.gz
UnStuffit or use whatever you want...
Then just install the package (double click it).
Then enjoy the game! [alert admin]

What "old" graphics are you talking about?
All versions since 0.2.6b3, ARE OpenGL.
Are you takling about the original "Classic" application from Interplay?

Don't forget - if you expect your game settings to be saved,
COPY the game to your hard disk.
If you run it directly from the disk image, settings won't be saved.
(The disk image is read only).
This is a defect in the file handling design; plus no error is reported either.
Hopefully this will be addressed in a future version.
This affects setting such as control, pilots, resolutions, etc...
View README.MACOSX.txt for more details.
PS - I will investigate the mouse control issues (I still use the keyboard)
Thanks to all for your feedback. [alert admin]

D2X (Descent 2) 0.2.6b3 (Mac OS X)
The menu's ARE confusing - blame the original design team :-p
To change the settings, you have to select the resolution you want, and then press the SPACE BAR, then press Return.
The same is similar for other menu's, include mouse control.
The screen flashes during screen resolution changes is a know bug.
To fix the map issues, add '-automap_gameres' to d2x.ini.
The '-automap_gameres' will be added in the next release.

Even though the game source is available, the Game Files (content) are not free. The only allowed distributable are the demo files.
