Cyclone.saver 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Screensaver is Intel only

This screensaver is an intel only screensaver, despite what it says on VersionTracker and on the developer's website... --Tom [alert admin]

Look Mom, No Hands! 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Sheer Chutzpah!

Here's a guy who wrote a shareware utility for OS 8, and then stopped updating his software years ago. Apparently he stopped making money once it became painfully obvious that FinderPop had a ton more features than his software. To add insult to injury, FinderPop was free and Look Mom was $9.00. Now he's back, five years after his utility stopped working with the current OS. He wants even more money now, and thinks it's fine to only give his long suffering (past) customers a 30% discount. How does the old saying go? "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." I, for one, won't get fooled again. Maybe we can get Turly (creator of FinderPop) to come up with a free version. Heck, I'd even buy him a few pints of Beamish for his trouble. This guy won't get one red penny from me. --Tom [alert admin]

Desktop Wrap 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Pretty Cool

If you like your desktop "just so" (translation: you're anal), then this application will make your day. I hope the application eventually lets you set the icon size on the desktop. [alert admin]

Script Debugger 3.0.9 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

So good, it's scary...

I am a better AppleScripter because of Script Debugger -- period. I have used (and continue to use) the debugging feautures to fix my scripts, learn how AppleScript works and "see" how the scripts of others work. I also use the "Explorer" feature of Script Debugger to improve my understanding of the dictionary -- in some cases, it's the quickest and easiest way to decipher an incoherent/ poorly written AppleScript dictionary. As for the criticism that it's expensive -- it's saved me enough time over the years to more than pay for itself. If you are going do something well, get the best tool for the job. In the case of AppleScript, the best tool is Script Debugger. This is one of my "desert island" applications. [alert admin]

Vanity Dockling 1.9 (Mac OS X)

Does One Thing, But Does It Really Well...

Vanity Dockling only does one thing, but does it really well. I have been using it since it came out. Glad to see that it has been updated for Tiger! --Tom [alert admin]

FirstClass Client X 7.1 (Mac OS X)

A fair Carbon…

(I assume) port. Does not support AppleScript. Does not render HTML, at least not on the system I use. (You have to download the HTML as an attachment.) No dock support. Many of Apple's important Human Interface guidelines are not followed. No command-H to hide the application. No command-M to minimize the application. Numerous other menu options do not have keyboard equivalents. It's just another example of a company doing a port that's "good enough" for Mac users. Consider me quite disappointed! [alert admin]

Sheer Chutzpah!

Well your powers of observation are as weak as your pricing policy and/or your loyalty to the Mac platform. The name is Tom, not Tim. It's *2005* get some glasses.

Sneaky??

Rob-- Where in the Toast Documentation did it say that Deja Vu was demo software? (Hint: It doesn't) Sorry, but Roxio and Propaganda should have come to a better financial agreement before they agreed to bundle Deja Vu with Toast 6... I have already called Roxio, and after not getting a satisfactory answer, told them I would no longer be buying their software... Later, Tom
