Cooliris 1.8.3 (Mac OS X)
I've used the previous versions, not this one, but there seems to be nothing new. What good is this? It's a nice viewer, but I am usually looking for a picture because I want it for some reason and probably want to download it. This doesn't let you. I know you can click on it and it may take you to the webpage where it was found, but it would be soooo much easier to just let me download it. Another feature that would be nice is to report the initial photo dimensions. [alert admin]

Art Text 2.0 (Mac OS X)
I am really happy with my upgrade to 2.0. The new features, including the new layers, transparency enhancements, and other features are too cool. This was a great product and price for 1.2.5. The 2.0 version is a fabulous upgrade; well worth the upgrade price. I have had a few graphical problems on my G-5 2x2ghz PPC that are being worked on now; the developer has been very responsive. I would encourage anyone to buy this, but I would be less than honest not to mention that, until the next version, there are minor problems where work in progress may be lost - after time. Make sure you get new upgrades when available. Finish your ArtText tasks and save them as soon as possible. [alert admin]

Cooliris 1.8 (Mac OS X)
I was not aware there was a Safari version. The Firefox version of this is - Cooliris - Piclens is
different. Would not like to live without this in Firefox at work. Now browsing is sooo much
better with it at home too. It is a tremendous timesaver - it makes searches so much better.

Screenium 1.0b7 (Mac OS X)
I really liked this program; I think it holds much promise after the bugs are worked out. I tested all the modes and everything seemed to work fine. But after the capture the application never gave the screen back to me (mouse would move, but could not click anything; moments later I had to reboot to recover.) I would keep my eye on this little app; it's definitely not stable yet, but an admirable start. [alert admin]

BannerZest 1.0 (Mac OS X)
I think it's too expensive, Demo mode is useless . . .
I think this app holds a lot of promise, but I won't spend the money if I can't actually create anything in the demo mode and move it to my site and try it. I think the demo mode should actually permit you to create something; it should be a time limited demo and not "useless limited." as it is now.
Also, I think it is overpriced; if it were $49.99 (pro) and $24.99 (reg) it might be worth the expense. The "Big Boys" don't need this, and the casual web builder can't afford it.

Adobe Flash Player 9.0.64.0 (Mac OS X)
Installer - Pornography from Adobe
I downloaded from Versiontracker. I ran the installer, but it failed because I "did not have enough permissions" - I didn't notice anything about uninstalling first; I do have sufficient permissions, and even if I didn't shouldn't it LET me authenticate? That is not the issue I bring up here though. So, I decided to try to trick it - I navigated into the package contents and ran the installer with sudo - it completed okay - but rather than taking my Safari back to adobe as the regular installer later did - it took me here: http://www.vbs.tv/player.php?bccl=MTY3MzM1OF9fRVRD . I am guessing that this is some kind of Easter Egg embedded in the installer for Adobe somebody's testing. This is probably NOT what they wanted to get out into the wild. P.S. You don't need to go there if nudity bothers you [alert admin]

Transmit 3.6 (Mac OS X)
Automator bug using Transmit 3.6 + reported to Panic
Existing Automator Transmit actions break upon switching to Transmit 3.6. Symptom: It doesn't work and the Automaotor workflow appears empty! Restoring old version of Transmit works fine. Here is a Panic reply:
This is a known problem. In Transmit 3.6, we changed the layout of Transmit's Automator actions to address a number of issues. Unbeknownst to us, Automator saves an action's layout directly in the workflow, rather than asking the current version of Transmit for the current layout when the workflow is opened.
So, when you try to run your workflow with Transmit 3.6, it doesn't work, because its trying to use the layout from Transmit 3.5.6. Unfortunately, this usually means you are going to have to remove and re- add the Transmit-specific actions in your workflow. In the worst case, you may have to re-create your workflow from scratch.
We apologize for the trouble, and we are actively looking into safeguards we might be able to implement in the future so workflows will work across versions, even when the actions have been modified. [alert admin]

HP OfficeJet G series 7.3.1 (Mac OS X)
I don't have an HP printer - but
I don't have an HP printer - but a friend pointed me to this package because it contains an EXCELLENT drag and drop photo stitching program. I dragged and dropped 6 photos into a window - waited 24 minutes and 15 seconds for it to stitch together a resulting 12000x1536 beautiful panorama ( it did a 6240x1808 of three of the same pics in less than half of that,) BUT the big thing is I did nothing for a gorgeous result. It's worth twice the price ( lol ) for what it does with this alone. There are other applications in there too, but I haven't tried them all yet. [alert admin]

NetSpeedometer 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
No one has mentioned how huge the meter is; way too large, and unadjustable.
The preferences, though shown in the menu, only give the splash information,
an obvious programming error. I was looking for something much like
http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest
which I think is still the best tool. Go there to check your speeds.

GraphicConverter X 5.8 (Mac OS X)
5.8 Failed to recognize purchased license . . .
The version pulled from versiontracker did not find/recognize my purchased license. I pulled the PPC one from lemkesoft (as someone else suggested) and it DID find my license and is functioning properly again. An indispensable tool. [alert admin]

I DID buy this screensaver . . .
I did buy this screensaver. Because it is so nice. Looking forward to the few bug fixes and enhancements of v1.1 The guy who said SereneScreen qualifies as a screensaver and 3D isn't is amiss. The SereneScreen rocks are constant (though fish do move 'in front' of them) is subject to more screen burnin that the fluidic, moving background of 3D. Good job!

This download specifically says it is for OEM/Apple cards. With the list shown though, I don't know if my 9600 card is applicable. Anyone else know?
