Ghost Sphere 2.4.1 (Mac OS X)

I Highly Recommend Ghost Sphere.

I Highly Recommend Ghost Sphere. I have used Ghost Sphere since 2005. It has performed without problem in a bit over 4 years. Whenever I have had questions about new features, and when I upgraded to Mac OSX 10.5, the developer responded very quickly and helpfully. [alert admin]

Nudge 1.1 (Mac OS X)

I use Nudge just about every day.

I work with application & file icon files a lot. After updating an icon resource, all I have to do is use nudge to make the application or file show its new icon. I use nudge at least a few times per day. [alert admin]

DVDAttache 3.6.0 (Mac OS X)

Excellent Software & It Is Free

I have used DVDAttache for years, with the program getting better and better with time. The developer has obviously put a great deal of time into and energy into developing DVDAttache, for which I thank him. Excellent work. Excellent work. I have to confess to only buying one DVD through DVDAttache (I keep forgetting). Buying CDs and DVDs helps the developer defray Web expenses, etc. I recommend DVD Attache, you can't beat the price. Ghost Sphere 1.6.2 (Mac OS X)

Ghost Sphere is a Great Application

I have been using Ghost Sphere since it first came out. I have watched Ghost Sphere continue to grow and become a more robust application. I upgraded to Ghost Sphere Pro, as soon as it came out. I can now create dynamic encrypted vaults, which can be made invisible. I can hide multiple folders, with the folders and their contents invisible to Spotlight. I have Ghost Sphere set up so that when I launch it, all I have to do is enter my password, and my hidden folders become visible automatically. When I quit Ghost Sphere, my hidden folders become invisible again, automatically. I find this very convenient. I have contacted the developer with questions and suggestions. He responds rapidly, with clear explanations, and is open to feedback and suggestions. I am very satisfied with Ghost Sphere and have recommended it to my Mac friends. [alert admin]

Ghost Sphere 1.2.2 (Mac OS X)

I Highly Recommend Ghost Sphere.

I highly recommend Ghost Sphere. I am not a programmer or hacker, but I now a few tricks, none of which worked to reveal the hidden folders or their contents. If you use a system utility to "Show Invisible items", your hidden folder does Not show-up. I have tested this with: Onyx, Cocktail, MainMenu, TinkerTool, InVisibles, and RootMachine. With other software for the hiding of folders, the hidden folders do show-up with the above mentioned utilities. I am told that with the appropriate knowledge and utility, the hidden folders could be found and accessed. High security comes at the cost of encryption time. For those who want speed and convenience, Ghost Sphere gives the best security you are going to get, without actually encrypting all of the data. For Higher Security, Ghost Sphere Pro allows you to create encrypted Secure Vaults. For very high security of small amounts of date, such as bank and Credit Card info, serial numbers, etc. I use Password Retriever, which has 448 bit BlowFish. However, Password Retriever does not allow for the protection of large amounts of data, picture, movies, or documents. So, Ghost Sphere fills the gap for me very nicely with its Secure Vaults. I backup my internal drive to an external Firewire drive, using Tri-Backup. The hidden folders backed up to to external drive perfectly, and remained hidden on the external drive. The developer has responded to my questions rapidly and clearly and is open to feedback and ideas. I have not encountered any bugs or problems. I highly recommend Ghost Sphere. [alert admin]

I recommend WMV Player

I have used WMV Player since it first became available and have never had any problems. I am very satisfied with it. In fact, I have recommended WMV Player to people five times now. The only time WMV Player has not been able to play a .wmv file, is when the file has DRM (Digital Rights Management). The DRM in question is a Microsoft proprietary technology. I imagine the only way the developer can get around this problem, is with the cooperation of Microsolft. Good Luck on that one! If you download a .wmv file which has to be viewed in Windows Media Player, because the file is a DRM file, I simply tell the file to open with Windows Media Player, instead of WMV Player. To permanently set a wmv DRM file to always open with Windows Media Player, Control-click the file and choose "Get Info", and set "Open With" to Windows Media Player. To change multiple files at one time, select all of the files to be changed, Control-click the files, and choose "Get Summary Info" and set "Open With" to Windows Media Player. I have never actually tried to stream wmv media which has DRM, but you should be able to go to the WMV Player Preference Pane, under Plug-in, and uncheck "Use Flip4Mac WMV plug-in". I am running on Mac OSX 10.4.3, Dual 2.5 GHz PowerPC G5, 2GB DDR SDRAM. [alert admin]

Password Retriever 5.0.5 (Mac OS X)

I highly recommend Password Retriever

In July of 2002, after much research, I settled on Password Retriever as the best option for storing vital family financial info, passwords, serial numbers, etc. I have never regretted that decision. There has been a bit of a hassle after each major upgrade, but the benefits of the new Password Retriever were worth the hassles. Over the years, Password Retriever has become more and more flexible and easy to use, without loss of security. I highly recommend Password Retriever to anyone who wants both high security and ease of use. [alert admin]

Use DiscBlaze to burn iTunes purchased music.

DiscBlaze (Basic-Free/Pro-$29.95) will allow customers to create audio CD's & audio DVD's, using purchased iTunes music Store content (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/20090). Roxio has betrayed their customer base. If Apple didn't want Roxio, or anyone else, converting and burning files of a particular format or with a particular DRM license, they would simply not allow it from within the API's used (QuickTime. etc.). If enough people Boycott Roxio, then maybe they will get the message. We are the customer, not Apple. [alert admin]

Apimac Secret Folder X 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Try eyeHide.

EyeHide is only $6 - http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/27059. Even if someone turns on "show invisible items", clicking on your hidden folder will only show the icon of a private folder, and will not show the contents of your hidden folder. The contents of your hidden folder are accessed with a password. I tried to use Apimac Secret Folder X 3.0, but all I get is an error “Open Dictionary – Unable to read the dictionary of the application or extension because it is not scriptable.” [alert admin]
