Synchronize! Pro X 6.0.1 (Mac OS X)
The new version has an issue with Parallels (or viceversa). If Parallels (latest verrsion) is running the Mac hangs. With the previous version 5.1.3 only Syncronize used to hang, now the OSX hangs. It looks like Syncronize! cannot copy the virtual Windows disk if Parallels is using it. Older versions were OK. Other than this problem it is the usual excellent backup and sync program [alert admin]

Fast DVD Copy 4.1 (Mac OS X)
I think the previous comments need a comment. It is true that FDC does not keep up with all the new protections introduced almost monthly by the various studios etc. This application both rips and compresses. Therefore it should not be compared with DVD2Onex which only compresses and does it very well. It is true that the appl is expensive and (therefore!) the protection of this application is cumbersone. So much so that recently I switched to a Mac Intel and rather than going through the process of having the appl authorized for a new machine i switched to DVDShrink on Parallels. It works better and it is free. Even AnyDVD which rips EVERYTHING costs much less. Unfortunately at the moment if you need to rip DVDs you have to stick to Windows applications [alert admin]

necflashX 1.47 (Mac OS X)
Necflash works beautifully and ... promptly got me in trouble. I flashed my LaCie d2 DVD-RW Firewire (contains a Nec 3500 AG using NecFlask and the latest Nec software NECND350_v21A. Everything OK. Enboldened I tried RCP1 (3500-21abt . Everything OK.. Apparently. The drive is now region free but no longer masterizes d2 DVDs!! Forgot dumping the original LaCie firmware so I cannot go back. Tried the other software mentioned ((MadDog etc) on Verbatims and tx. Still results on d2 disks is irregular: either Toast does not start, or does not finish properly and disks cannot be read on Macs. Ouch!Works ok with single layer so far as I see. I post this as a warning for other who might be tempted to do the same. My fault surely, but all the same ouch!! Apparently now I have a RCP1 fast SINGLE LAYER drive M [alert admin]

Region protection in DVDs is not a copy protection.

Most commercial video DVD need to detect their region set on the player in order to play. A RPC1 driver therefore does nnot mean without a region but able to change region as many times as you like. That is what this indispensable litte application is for. Why don't you inform yourself at least about elementary infos before posting on versiontracker? M
