I agree with the previous reviewer that this is about as bad as symantec. Any utility that patches your software at the system level and doesn't provide a way to uninstall it should be avoided. i made the mistake of installing this and now cannot uninstall it. I suppose i could delete the application but i don't know what else is patched in the system. i want to install it because it keeps logging me out on idle, even though i have repeatedly tried to turn off that option. it crashes all the time when i try to adjust certain settings including that one. I didn't have the kernel panic problem before updating to this new version. So I need to downgrade, which is too bad since some of the new features are good, like capping uploads per torrent. I hope this gets fixed. I had two kernel panics yesterday. Also what happened to the icon? Its lo-res in the dock now on a white background. Using a dual 1.8 G5. [alert admin]

yes, this update has been out for 6 months. and it never fixed the crashing problems. it crashes just opening (double clicking on) cities. sent a note to tech support and they recommended sending in the crash log, but there was no crash log. (probably because it's written in java). this software is garbage. no support and no real bug fixes. forget it. [alert admin]

great idea and needed. definitely off to a very good start. the presentation in HTML is really nice, and although i haven't tried it, the PDA interface could be very useful also. but a number of problems and areas for improvement. first of all, does not handle very large itunes files very well. seems to have a limit in fact of around 32K songs (like the old versions of iTunes). docs are mostly lacking, and there are many unexplained prefs. (most people won't understand what SQL is supposed to do, for example, and simply how to address the server (ie http://localurl:port#) not explained (i don't think). unclear how often the library has to be updated (why not use apple events to get playlist names, and then update library on a definable schedule for searching?) the interface is not standard. (default buttons are in flat grey not blue). there should be a way to disconnect client side (lags on itunes server side freeze up safari on client side). "fancy" interface would be nice customizable. [alert admin]

according to the notes, tiger is not required, 10.2.8 is. Looks like not ALL the FEATURES of the update are supported though without tiger. on another note, i'm irritated that apple doesn't seem to be listening to feature requests at all. for years i've wanted the simple ability to go to the next album on a playlist with a (scriptable) command, and wanted the setting for shuffle by song or album to go with…

As soon as I try to configure my Gravis Eliminator Aftershock it takes over my Kensington TurboBall mouse and I can't click anything else with the mouse until I unplug and replug it (USB). Is there a conflict with Kensington MouseWorks?

it's still an extremely stupid place for ROM files. you should strive to keep your document files your actual working documents and such, not preference files, not application support files, and certainly not applications, which is what ROMS are of course. LAME is an entirely different encoder, and can handle variable bit rate encoding. try encoding with the --alt preset standard option and compare to say iTunes AAC 160 or iTunes MP3 192.
