Stock WatchTower 1.2.3 (Mac OS X)

speed issues

I think it is a good start. However it is slow as a dog and keeps not responding on Tiger. It would be MUCH better and more useful if it drew the graphs instead of downloading them. The "safari 6000 downloads limit" error is annoying. I think it is written in Applescript or feels like it, it should really be written in a faster language. The strength of this application is in it's algorithms, it is fairly well organized. It presents a nice set of data and you can tell the person either understands the market technicals or is just an O'Neil worshipper as I think it probably works better in conjunction with a subscription to Investors Business Daily. . The "watchtowers" are kind of neat and make good sorting algorithms. Overall it is a useful tool if you have some patience (it takes like 1.5 hours to download the data over cable modem) and it takes a few minutes to sort the information. However, when it is done is does make a decent screening tool. I am going to give it a -neutral- rating, it is functional but rough around the edges. If it drew it's own graphs, and was faster, It would definately be worth the money. However, I don't see any movement towards those goals at this point. I am not sure there aren't better tools out there. [alert admin]
