SilverFast Ai STUDIO 6.5.5r3 (Mac OS X)
Silverfast website won't allow selection of 10.5 Leopard
Even though they say it works with Leopard, their download page only shows 10.4 Tiger as a download type. I don't know if this is a mistake or a way to say, 'it's not my fault' if it screws up my Mac! [alert admin]

SilverFast Ai (Canon) 6.5.5r3 (Mac OS X)
Does nothing with Canoscan 9900f & Leopard
I installed the trial version. It installs, fine but sees no scanner. I tried the USB and then the firewire but SF still doesn't find any scanner. Now I've noticed that there is no way to uninstall it. This is a sign of truly poor programming! I guess they are too cheap to write a script and use an installer with the uninstall option. It figures. I'm going back to VueScan which works or at least it did until I installed this software. [alert admin]

GarageSale 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)
Finally, a Mac user interface for ebay auction listings! ![]()

I've just purchased GarageSale today and I already have it setup for both my ebay account and so that I can easily host my own pictures! Lately, ebay is doing some strange compression to ebay hosted pictures that distorts them, squeezing them horizontally. I really like the wysiwyg description editor and built in browser so you can see what your auction will look like before it is listed! There will always be new features that will improve any software but for quick, easy listings, GarageSale will do the job, in a Mac-like manner. My only complaint so far, is the lack of documentation (at least I can't find any). Documentation is like sex ... even bad documentation is better than none at all! They should add a Wiki documentation and let their users create the manual for them. Still, it was easy enough to figure out, so that I was up and running in less than 30 minutes. I look forward to new features. Keep up the good work! [alert admin]

Audio Hijack Pro 2.0 (Mac OS X)
Beware! This isn't a free upgrade!!!
BEWARE!
If you purchased Audio Hijack before May 1, only 2 months ago (I paid full price for it 2 months and 8 days ago!) AND you try this upgrade, your stuck paying for it, again!
It uses the exact same name and so, replaces your paid for copy ... and the old version is no longer available from their web site! I paid again but, this is extortion!
All they had to do was add the '2' to its name to avoid this!
Obviously they don't care about their paying customers enuough to type a '2' in their software's name ... they no they've gotcha!

Library 1.0 (Mac OS X)
2 suggestions for the next revision ... add 'Audio Book' to the Edition pop-up and include a tabbec, text file import for those of us that already have extensive book and audio book collections. [alert admin]

I did contact Rogueamoeba and this was their reply ... You're absolutely right about this, and it pointed out a mistake in our version checker to us. The version checking file it was reading was not properly written. We specifically added code to AH Pro 1.3 so that it could display a full message here, to inform users that this was a paid upgrade, and the file was not correctly written. If you check again in AH Pro 1.3.1, it's…
