Magic DVD Copier 4.8 build 6 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)
I used quite a few copying programs on my Mac - especially MacTheRipper with the DVD2oneX2. There are so many discs that did not rip well. I started searching for others to use and since I have an Mac Pro with Intel, I found Magic DVD copier and ripper programs. These programs work great and there hasn't been a disc that hasn't ripped perfectly. Even compressing a DVD9 to DVD5 worked well. The compression on Mac DVD Copier works better than DVD Fab which I also tried out. I use the DVD Ripper to get my original DVD's to my iphone and Ipod video and backups of movies onto DVD's using DVD Copier. Can't leave original DVD's for my kids to damage. Do a search and you can get a discount link to buy both progs for $39.95 [alert admin]

FileSalvage 4.2 (Mac OS X)
I bought this program soley because the demo version was the ONLY program that could actually see the contents of my crashed drive. The demo could only see the files but could not actually recover anything. So, I ended up plunking down for the program. It took about 8 hours overnight to go through approx. 130gb of files on my drive. The HUGE problem I noticed the next morning is that none of the names of my files were recovered. They were only listed as sequential numbers (i.e. 24232.jpg). For my pictures, it's not a super big problem as I can run GraphicConverter to display hundreds of files at a time and see what can be saved. All the other files, it will take weeks if not months to go through all the files and find out what actually works and what is junk. I'm glad that I found this program but not having the file names preserved is definitely a big drawback. With my drivesize as being 160gb with 130 of it used, I have to go through 300,000 files which is a monumental task. It's worth the money to recover ANYTHING off of my drive that no other program could do. [alert admin]
