TiVo Butler 1.0b3 (Mac OS X)

Crashes consistently

I attempted to use TiVo Butler. It even got me to upgrade to 10.5 just so I could try it. Unfortunately, it crashes all the time rendering it unusable at this point. The interface is pretty nice, so if an update is released which fixes the stability problems, I'll happily give it another try. Unfortunately, it does not appear to be under active development with the b3 release more than 9 months old already. [alert admin]

SeasonPassGetter 0.14 (Mac OS X)

Re-downloads shows

SeasonPassGetter works well enough. However, it re-downloads the same shows multiple times. If you change any of the meta data (such as specifying the season, episode ID, episode number, artist, etc) about a show within iTunes before deleting it from the TiVo, SeasonPassGetter will immediately begin to download the show again. So far, I have found one way to delay this response from SPG until the next time to launch it. If you duplicate the video file in the Finder then delete the original, SPG won't notice until you quit and relaunch it. The only attributes you can change on the original video in iTunes are the checkbox in the playlist and the Not New status. As above, changing anything else will trigger a new download. Then, you can drag and drop the copy into iTunes. It will appear under Movies where you can set all of its attributes. Unfortunately, this workaround defeats half of the functionality of SPG. That said, it is currently the best solution I have found so far without using Windoze. The developer does acknowledge this behavior on his website. Based upon the 2007 release of 0.14, it appears that he has stopped work on the application. [alert admin]
