MidiKit 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Edit a vertical list of events, one at a time.

The editor shows a list of events as text with columns of event fields going across and time going downward, one event per line. Note-off events don't seem to be shown separately. I don't know whether they are filtered out (there is event-type filtering) or combined into the "note" events. There is no horizontal piano-roll type edit mode. To be fair, so far I haven't found a MIDI editor with such a view. Events can be deleted one at a time. To do this, you click the event and hit the delete key. Instead of deleting backwards like delete normally does, it deletes forward: the currently-selected event is deleted and the next event becomes the selected event. You cannot select a range of events to delete. [alert admin]

Emagic SoundDiver 3.1.0b2 (Mac OS X)

Does not run by itself

This is not an actual piece of software but only an update to SoundDiver 3, which you must have already. If you don't, you get the message, "EMagic XSKey not found." With a "Quit" button. The "Developer page" is a link to an Apple page talking about support for owners of SoundDiver 3. [alert admin]

Senor Staff 0.8.2 (Mac OS X)

Problem importing MIDI file

The program wasn't able to import a slightly malformed MIDI file I want to edit. I like that it's open source. If I had the time I'd track down the importing problem myself. [alert admin]

LAME Audio Encoder 3.97 (Mac OS X)

G4 required

Look closely and you see they say it's not just optimized for G4/G5 but a G4 is required. There may be a G3 port of LAME on Fink, but Fink isn't working for me at the moment. If anyone (not to mention Thalictrum) can post a G3 port, I'd appreciate. If I manage to get it from fink or compile the sources from sourceforge, I'll leave another note of course.

Zipeg 1.3.0 (Mac OS X)

Unzips PK v4.6 archives

This program works on PKZip v4.6 archives. The unzip utility built into Tiger says, need PK compat. v4.6 (can do v2.1) Four stars because I wish it would let me drag a file out of the archive and onto the desktop or a folder. [alert admin]

Unzips PK v4.6 archives

Also, I wish I could drag a zip archive on top of the Zipeg icon to open it.
