RBrowser 4.2.2 (Mac OS X)

waiting for improvement; ftp alternatives

I too am hoping rbrowser will clean up its noise and trail. I like its ssh functionality and GUI flexibility but will not purchase as is. For the person who asked, a good open source ftp client is cyberduck http://www.cyberduck.com; a shareware app I like a lot is yummyFTP http://www.yummysoftware.com. Further, the trial system is inadequate. I barely tried it and had my trial expire, did this a couple more times with different emails to get another trial license. Developer, please move to less onerous licensing, minimal network impact, and no needless residue, as well as a more useful trial opportunity. [alert admin]

PassGenX 1.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Useful tool to manage many accounts

By using a particular master password and generator pattern on a username, service name, or whatnot, PassGen produces a reasonably secure pw that you can reconstruct if necessary (if you input the same parameters again). You get to select the level of complexity/security. As a sysadmin, this easy-to-use tool lets me assign passwords that are possible for users to remember (there is always a mnemonic element to them) and more secure than people tend to select on their own. This system also makes it possible for more than one admin (by using the same master password, pattern, and method for selecting the base name) to generate or reconstruct consistent passwords. Passenger is another useful tool by the same author that incorporates the same password scheme for managing user accounts on servers. [alert admin]

One problem though

The same thing can trip people up in iPhoto or iTunes. I agree with the poster's concern and suggest that all of these products provide an alert before deleting the original of a file that is linked in any album.
