AquaLess 1.5 (Mac OS X)
I use it daily; can't live without it. But the new version has the annoying habit of asking to install the command line tool every time you launch it using Open With. Yes the command line tool is fine, but must we use it every time? [alert admin]

Camino 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Years ago it was my favourite browser. Now it gives nothing but spinning beachballs. Deleting prefs and other cruft helps very little. I really would like this to work, but... [alert admin]

"PDF with outlined fonts" is great: you can edit each character individually in Illustrator! [alert admin]

Adobe Reader 7.0.7 (Mac OS X)
Why all the grumbles? The update worked quickly and perfectly for me. [alert admin]

Dantz Retrospect 6 Driver Update 6.1.1.101 (Mac OS X)
I'm baffled by all of the complaints. I have used Retrospect for many years to back up numerous machines, and done a couple of restores including a full restore after a disc crash. It's flexible and it works. Unlike sync software, it performs real incremental backups, so I can restore my HD to any past date rather than only to yesterdays. [alert admin]

cocoAspell 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)
This version seems to bring back the problem (for UK users) of "cannot contact the spelling checker". But even when it works, it may offer 40 alternatives for each misspelt word, making it practically impossible to reach the rest of the menu. And do we really need nine UK English dictionaries? Less complexity, more usability please! [alert admin]

iCal Events 2.1 (Mac OS X)
I love this widget, but the latest version does not work. First, the version number on the file is still 2.0.2, not 2.1 as expected. Two, when launched it simply goes into a loop. I have deleted it and re-downloaded half a dozen times, no luck. Fortunately I was able to rescue the previous version from the Trash! [alert admin]

XEmacs Wrapper 1.03 (Mac OS X)
What a great idea. Can either be clicked directly or set via "open with" as the default application for certain document types. [alert admin]

Does not seem to work with 10.4
The .1 in 1.0.1 is being interpreted as a filename extension. Try renaming it to "Goliath 1" or "Goliath 1.0.1.app"

Does not seem to work with 10.4
I get the same thing. Maybe it only affects people who have ManOpen installed.

I may try Diane. Millie is not British, but a parody of British worthy of Mary Poppins. She's not very clear either, as you say.

i wonder if "vscanx" (the cli tool) was updated?
I believe that vscanx does all the work. The GUI just calls vscanx (and reports a successful scan even if vscanx crashes)
