Mozilla Firefox 0.9 (Mac OS X)

My first try at giving some concrete crticism...

0.9 is a step back. It feels more slugish then 0.8. On some sites that I visit on a regular basis, scrolling down becomes a bit annoying. The fluidity of Safari or Shiira really is missing in Firefox. And the startup time for Firefox 0.9 is something left to be desired. On a positive note there are some websites which Safari or Shiira don't render properly yet but where Firefox does a decent job. I've been using Firefox for some time now but the development seems to be going in the wrong direction. I mentioned this in an earlier post but I will post it again: Shiira is a new browser being developt which looks very promising indeed. Make sure to download the latest nightly build => http://hmdt-web.net/shiira/index-e.html [alert admin]

MacTheRipper 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Great app but it keeps crashing at 4.37 GBs

I'm just testing MTR 2.0 with the "Terminator 2: The Ultimate Edition DVD" and it keeps crashing after ripping through 4.37 GBs... although I've set it to Extracting the complete disc. UOPs is also switched off. Any ideas ? This didn't happen with MTR 1.5.6. Still... a great app guys =) [alert admin]

KDX 1.300 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Adam Hinkley is responsible for this garbage,...

... the GUI for KDX / Mac OS X is so darn ugly and the support for Mac is so awful. Now if those are NOT GOOD ENOUGH reasons to stay clear of KDX, I don't know what is. [alert admin]

iTunes-LAME Encoder 2.0.6 (Mac OS X)

Excellent...yet again

iTunes-LAME uses LAME 3.95 and it does the job well. On a G5 it ripped 9.8GBs of AIFFs (16,5 hours) in just under 2 hours using -v -V 0 -b 192 -h =) [alert admin]

Shiira

I have to agree with you on everything you wrote. I need to get my act together. Like they say: "if you haven't got anything to say, then just leave it". I'm glad I could be of service to you though regarding Shiira.

Random crashes

random crahses here too. Quite a bit actually. But MTR is STILL the best app out there for ripping DVDs. Every major new version of any app has trouble getting on it's feet in the beginning =)

60 GBs of free disk space should be enough, I think =)

it's now happened with another DVD aswell. This time it crashes after 4.66 GBs. I tried both DVDs with 1.5.6 and there was no problem
