The Missing Sync for Palm OS 6.0.5 (Mac OS X)
If you look at the Missing Sync software update page, it says this is not compatible with Snow Leopard. When I installed it, I had to reboot twice to make it sync properly. Still quirky. But I like my Palm Treo and won't replace the phone until it totally dies. DO read the installation notes and back up your address book and calendar. Just in case. [alert admin]

Here is how I am using Dropbox: I'm a teacher and I keep my planning book and gradebook in Dropbox. The latest version is then available from both home and school. My gradebook is locked and my planbook has no private information. I make a backup copy of each file every day from both computers. Sweet and simple. [alert admin]

Microsoft Entourage 2008 Web Services Edition 1.0 (Mac OS X)
The home edition or Office did not support Exchange services. It would appear that this update changes that. But when I installed it, I get the message that the Home/Student edition does not support exchange servers. [alert admin]

I got this application as a bonus with a MacHeist bundle. I'm impressed so far. It's elegant, intuitive and has been stable (at least on my system). [alert admin]

Apple iWork 09 (Mac OS X)
Still no support for flash animations ...
I am still waiting for the return of flash animation support. This apparently is related to QuickTime. There are so many great animations I could use in my classroom. I just want to insert them into my presentations. Sigh. [alert admin]

BusySync 2.1.5 (Mac OS X)
Google calendars can sync to your iCal and vice-versa. You have to set up the calendar on google calendars first, then sync it through iCal. You can get group scheduling this way. Google explains it at http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=99355. It's not trivial, but it works for my school's calendar. [alert admin]

EagleFiler 1.3.6 (Mac OS X)
Would be a preferred application except for ...
I am looking for a small application to keep track of miscellaneous files and notes (I am a teacher). I tried them all: Soho Notes, DevonThink, Together, MacJournal, Journier, SideNoteX, Notetaker, etc. They all cost about the same ($40). I really like both Soho Notes and EagleFiler EXCEPT that they both import files instead of creating aliases. I don't need another copy of a pdf file that is already on my hard drive; I just want to remember where it is and make notes about it. If I edit an original Word document, I want my filing application to load the new one, not a copy of the original. A couple of the other applications give you option of importing or not. Maybe EagleFiler could do the same. [alert admin]

Same here. The original beta used to work, but somewhere along the way it stopped launching. This one launches and crashes. Intel quad core System 10.5.6

Did the same thing to me - hung on "configuring installation." After an hour, I force-restarted it and it rebooted normally. It still says 10.5.5. Go figure ....

The developer is incredibly responsive. He releases bug fixes on a weekly basis. He has worked hard to accommodate bizarre schedules and homeschooler's needs. He has made Planbook export to iCal for those users who requested it. All for $30, and he has never asked for an upgrade fee. Have you joined the Yahoo group? Jeff answers each message personally and asks individuals to send files that don't work correctly. What more do you expect?…

Thanks for all your suggestions, I tried YEP, but all it handles are pdfs. I tried DEVONthink again, but I cannot figure out how NOT to import files. I think what most matches my needs is Together of Journier. Neither of them is very flashy, but they both seem to get the job done.

While I appreciate your effort in responding to my concerns, it doesn't change my position. I spent a ton of time entering information and notes into Idea Keeper, a classic application. It was just what I needed. But I can no longer access that information. EagleFiler DOES keep the documents accessible, but it still does not change the fact that I have hundreds of files all over my hard drive that I have intentionally filed…

No, it doesn't. You have to decide if you want a nice dock or a system update. The developer usually follows a system update with an update of his (?) own in a couple of weeks. Makes you appreciate the fine details in life. I agree that Apple ought to buy out the developer and include it in the system preferences.

And uninstalling Safari does not make the dock go back. Is it really necessary to replace the old version? Can't we have them both?
