ShakesPeer 0.8.5 (Mac OS X)
But I'd still be careful with this software. It's more stable, but it's still a processor hog. Slamming the processor means heat, and heat mean hardware damage. [alert admin]

Life Balance 3.2.6 (Mac OS X)
Others have commented on the kludgy UI. I could overlook the slow initial data entry, if using this app were faster. But it's not. Use this product, and you will waste much valuable time managing your data, instead of living life. I spent some time communicating with the developers and reps about these issues, and again, I wasn't impressed. Let me assure you, they don't care what Mac users think. I wasn't even convinced that they cared about their users on mainstream platforms. As a rule, I don't get any more excited about a product than the team working on it. Just let this one die, folks. TigerLaunch 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)
This doesn't do anything you couldn't do by dragging a "favorites" folder into your dock. Except now it's taking up space in the menubar instead. [alert admin]

ActionItems PRO 2.5.3 (Mac OS X)
1) Comes bundled with an installer instead of just letting you drag the application folder into the appropriate directory. I'm a little more cautious about this kind of thing than most, but I *really* *don't* *like* *installers*. I can't tell what else they're installing on my system, and that's not okay. 2) Good display of data. BUT 3) Requires mouse usage. A lot of mouse usage. For pretty much everything that you'll do on a regular basis. There are a few hotkeys, but you can't even assign projects/contexts/due dates without touching a mouse. And the buttons are *tiny*. I'm not anti-mouse, but I -- like more and more people --do a lot of work on a laptop. Touchpads aren't a great alternative to exposed keyboard access. This is pretty much a desktop application. Along similar lines: 4) No applescript support. 5) No services menu support. These seem like minor points until you understand their use. I'll give you a hint: Install Quicksilver (or Launchbar), and get in the habit of using a "put this note in my inbox" command. That's pretty much a pre-requisite for a GTD "Mind-Like-Water" system. And yet, the application requires the user to use the application the way the application designers intended, rather than how it would best fit with an optimal workflow. I can't say I'm surprised: it's a rare software designer who's good enough to really open things up to the user. I have yet to find a single application in this marketspace that really does that. The closest yet is OmniOutliner, even though reproducing this functionality via applescript is insanely *slow*. [alert admin]

ActionItems Lite 2.5 (Mac OS X)
Software is hard to evaluate when it crashes roughly every 45 seconds. I gave up after the third time. [alert admin]

Transmission 0.3 (Mac OS X)
Stability issues seem to be resolved, and this may be the fastest BitTorrent client available for OSX. I'm regularly seeing d/l times that are 75% of the times I saw with BitTorrent's official client, and 50% what I saw with Azureus/Bits on Wheels. Wow. Meta: Version Tracker is reluctant to let users find the app. It turns up in searches by name, and searches for "BitTorrent", but not in searches for "torrent" or "bit torrent". [alert admin]

Bits on Wheels 1.0 PR1.4 (Mac OS X)
As in, downloads happen much more slowly than with other clients. Also, there's no way to cap up/down bandwidth for entire application. [alert admin]

ShakesPeer 0.8.2 (Mac OS X)
I've worked with radioactive isotopes that were more stable! Ba-da-BING! It crashes more often than the high-hat on an eight-year old's drum set! *rimshot* It's got bigger bugs than my ex's old apartment! *applause* It fails more often than Nigerian investment schemes! *groans* But seriously, I'm going to keep using it because it's already better than any other DC client, and will only improve. And I'll be overjoyed once it stays up for more than 30 minutes under heavy loads. [alert admin]

Focus 2.5 (Mac OS X)
1) Set the window height to about 20 pixels. 2) Place the window at the left of your menu bar, so that it covers the apple logo. 3) Set focus to ignore mouse clicks. [alert admin]

iSwipe 1.7.2 (Mac OS X)
I really wanted to like this, but how can you like an app that: -never actually downloads anything -eats all your hard drive space anyway -thinks that a 9kB file is larger than a 1MB file -re-orders lists while you're browing them [alert admin]

"1st, transmission only get downloads from the seeders - not from the other peers." I don't think so, though it may appear that way if you do not take the time to let Transmission connect to the peers. "2nd, you can´t delete old torrent files. you can stop them, but after that you can´t delete them. the only way is to quit and restart or to delete the preferece file and start again. " I don't think so,…
