I've been using Speed Download since it first came out. Its orignal purpose was its best feature. To speed up download. Unfortunately, YaSoft has decided to make it a do all end all program. They got it right in the beginning, but now it tries to do everything else. It now reminds me of a $Microsoft program that insist on taking over you Mac. I never thought it possible. but I'm thinking that Safari's downloader is much cleaner and easier to use. We didn't all that server control. We had other better programs, like Transit, to do those things. I'm not going to download this update, mainly because I've had to turn off all features other downloading. [alert admin]

Bookdog 3.5.7 (Mac OS X)
Something I don't care for in Bookdog ![]()

Something I don't care for in Bookdog I've been using Bookdog for a while now, since version 2. I have 3.52 now and I've had to turn off the program working in the background. It seems every time I take the time to arrange and or rename my bookmarks, bookdog is trying to keep up with me in the background which sends me a dialog saying your bookmarks can't be changed now try later, and that's after I've done all the typing. So it was all for nothing because you have to start over. I got wise to what was going on. If you start changing bookmarks, Bookdag hops into action even though I wasn't finished, so went I hit return, on say a renaming, Bookdog has the CPU and throws that dailog. It happens so often, I've turned background processing off for Bookdog and that solved the problem, except the feature goes down the drain. I also think the GUI is cluttered and just awful. But that aside it does its job well. [alert admin]

Bookdog 2.0.8 (Mac OS X)
Great program... some minor GUI tweaks needed ![]()

I've checkout most of the bookmark programs out there and settled on Bookdog because it seems to do its job flawlessly. It is well worth the shareware price. Other programs didn't have Bookdog's feature set or they failed to work properly. I particularly like the fact that Bookdog allows me to sort, organize, and check for broken links as well as deal with duplicates all in one place. That said, there is a few minor GUI annoyances, that I would expect in a Windows XP program, not a MAC OS X program. There really should be a way to change the organizing color scheme. We Mac people like to change those things, besides having the check box icons makes the color labeling unnecessary or at least not on normal default items. IMHO I think it would been easy to implement a preference for this GUI item, including using no color scheme at all. I recommend that you buy Bookdog and support the author, because this is a program we Mac people need. [alert admin]

iColors 1.0 (Mac OS X)
I wish programs like Photoshop would take a good look at the features in this little app. Then those at Adobe would see how color picking ought to be! Whitney Young has given us designers just what we've been looking for, for years.. a way to easily find the color of any part on my screen, in any app, instantly and automatically converted to hex. This program is free, but I surely would pay for it. Deamweaver has this feature, but it doesn't work outside of the dreamweaver environment. I now keep iColor permently in a corner of my desktop. Bravo to Whitney Young. Leo [alert admin]
