BirthdayCal 2.0.4 (Mac OS X)

Too bad

I loved this app. It's the only solution I found for creating multiple alarms for a birthday (e.g., an email notification a day before and a message on the screen on the actual birthday). Unfortunately, as others have mentioned, the app does not work with the current iCal version of 10.4. What a shame. [alert admin]

aMule 2.1.0 (Mac OS X)

Universal Binary

A preliminary Universal Binary of aMule can be found at: http://forum.amule.org/thread.php?threadid=9286 That version runs much more stable on the new Intel Macs than the official 2.1.0 PPC binary does. [alert admin]

Apple Aperture 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Can't wait to see where the app is in 6 month

I've been deeply impressed by Aperture so far. While it surely has a quirk here and there, it's already quite a pleasure to work with. Keep in mind people that this is version 1.0. Final Cut Pro was in much worse shape when it was initially released and now it is of industry leading grade. Same with OS X -- anybody remember 10.0? Aperture has already made my life much easier and I'm really excited about future versions. [alert admin]

Taboo 0.3 (Mac OS X)

Very excellent!

I used to remove the <Apple><Q> binding from Safari using the developer tools because I had accidentally quit the app a few times with 20 tabs open. This is a much more convenient solution, plus, it also prevents you from accidentally closing a window with multiple open tabs. [alert admin]

Chmox 0.3 (Mac OS X)

Search Feature?

Very nice app! There's only one feature I am desperately missing: the ability to search for keywords. Any chance that could get implemented? [alert admin]

Delicious Library 1.0.6 (Mac OS X)

From their web-page:

Q: My UPC scans in fine, but the item isn't found on Amazon, even though I know it's in there. A: If your item is from outside the U.S., Amazon.com often won't list it by the same UPC. We're planning on accessing other Amazon stores around the world in a future release. giving the app nasty ratings just b/c they haven't implemented international support is just plain stupid. what's next? b1tching that an electronic version of the us yellow pages does not cover thailand? complaining that merriam webster does not work for swahili? please guys, get your act together... Canon EOS Digital Rebel/EOS 300D Digital 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

ONLY works under 9.0-9.2!

There are two ways to upgrade your firmware (or to install an alternate firmware ;) ): - use the UpgradeFirmware program that comes with this firmware. But this only works if your mac is a bit older an can boot natively in OS 9.0 - 9.2. - copy the firmware to your cf-card using a card reader So if your Mac can only boot into OS X just get a card reader. Since transferring pictures is much faster with a card reader it's a good idea to get one anyway. NOTE: the camera initiates the firmware upgrade process only if your batteries are COMPLETELY charged!!! My batteries were about 90% charged and when the firmware update would not start i was thinking something with the transfer went wrong. So charge your batteries completely and save yourself half an hour of trouble shooting... ;) [alert admin]

File Stitcher MP3 Edition 1.1 (Mac OS X)

it works...

but it does not seem to do a very clean job: when i run mp3splt with sync error detection mode on the the stitched file, it detects the merge points as sync errors. my guess is, file stitcher simply merges the mp3 files including their tags, which is not what you want to do. interestingly, if you remove the tags by hand from the original files, the program refuses to join those files... i guess i'll stick with: 1) removing the tags by hand 2) using xmerge to merge the files 3) then deleting the type/creator infos that xmerge incorrectly sets. Don't use Stuffit for zip files

The problem is that StuffIt (and in particular older versions of it) is not the best choice for handling zip files on the Mac. What you want to do is to unzip the archive using the zip engine that is built-in in OS X: Right-click (or control-click if you only have a one button mouse) the aMule zip archive and choose "Open with->BOMArchiveHelper". The resulting aMule app should run fine on your machine. If you want…
