SteerMouse 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Caused numerous problems

Although I would have appreciated the features offered by this mouse driver, it didn't work for me. I bought Tiger and the Mighty Mouse, formatted my harddrive, installed the OS, then Apple's driver, and right after that I became aware of SteerMouse and installed that. I'm not positively sure, but I suspect that SteerMouse seriously screwed up my newly installed system, because after installing it, I suddenly couldn't shut down my system cleanly anymore (it froze when I tried to, several times), and various other problems started occuring. Because this was on a clean, new install of OSX 10.4 on a freshly formatted drive, I am pretty sure that it was indeed SteerMouse causing those problems. I then formatted the drive yet again and installed everything except Steermouse, and I haven't had any problems since. Conclusion: While I don't claim to be knowledgable enough to prove without doubt that SteerMouse was the cause of these problems, my system runs much better without it, and I will not install it again. Awesome

This widget is great if you have a German GMX account with free SMS capability. Very easy to use and works flawlessly. [alert admin]

SysEx Librarian 1.0.4 (Mac OS X)

Fabulous!

This is a great app! Simple, easy to use, straightforward, and it does what it's supposed to do. I use it to upload my archived sounds to my Korg Prophecy, and it works like a charm. Stable and reliable. Thanks for making it free! [alert admin]

mpgtx GUI 1.4b4 (Mac OS X)

works great!

I've only used this for joining mpeg files, so I have no idea how well it handles the splitting and demuxing tasks. But it works like a charm for joining files if the source files are not corrupt. Very fast and easy to use! [alert admin]

Temperature Monitor 2.1 (Mac OS X)

Great program with some minor flaws

This program works very well on my Powerbook G4 12" 1GHz with OSX 10.3.4. I particularly like the variety of temperature readout display options: regular application window, menu bar display, floating window display, and dock display. All of these can be turned on and off at your will. When quitting, it remembers the display options you were using, so if you like your temperature display in the dock, thats where it will be when you start the program again, without any unneeded application windows popping up every time. Very nice. Now for the drawbacks: I agree with the poster who brought up the font size issue. An option to reduce the font size in the floating window would be much appreciated. Also, for some reason, the color selectors for the different temp sensors won't work on my computer. Everything defaults to black. That's really no big deal though. Someone mentioned that they would like some kind of reference as to what kinds of temperatures are normal for different kinds of Macs. I wholeheartedly agree! What's the use of a temperature monitoring program if you have no idea when it starts to get dangerous? Some "ballpark figures" would be a nice addition to this already useful piece of software.
