Snippet Mind 1.0b3 (Mac OS X)

Save Your Money

What exactly does this offer that Journier doesn't? And Journier is free. [alert admin]

MyMind 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)

Can't Undo

Typing Command+Z (undoing last action) crashes entire program. Otherwise, I would love to use it. [alert admin]

Webstractor 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

same as above

I agree, a very useful app that's too pricey. Compare it to HistoryHound, which is $20. It doesn't actually archive your web pages, but it does remember and index every word on them so you can easily go back and search for a site you've browsed. For now, that seems like the better value. [alert admin]

You Control: Desktops 1.0 (Mac OS X)

too much

wouldnt pay more than $10 for this, especially with both desktop manager and virtue out there. $30 is just a rip-off. [alert admin]

mBezel 1.0 (Mac OS X)

A Nice Little App . . .

. . . that should cost around $6. And yes, Tiger will definitelty make this thing obsolete. [alert admin]

Run 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Redundant

I keep seeing apps like this (last week it was Bullseye). Has no one out there tried Quicksilver yet? Does exactly this and far more. Now if this is going to be a competitor or improvement to QS, then bring it on. But if it's just launching apps with keystrokes, I am really not sure we need it anymore (QS is free, by the way). I just offer this by way of a suggestion to the developer, not to be too critical. [alert admin]

Curio 2.1 (Mac OS X)

In Curio's Defense

Just want to put in a good word for this software because of all the negative reviews it's been receiving. I have been using it for several months now and it is absolutely outstanding. I use it to take notes, word process, create presentations, brainstorm for the plays I write, and generate to do lists. Its uses are infinite really. And notice how elegantly it's designed. This program is not for people who like to be told by software how to use it. It's for genuinely creative people who love the pleasure of a blank slate and then creating their own world on it. Yes it's pricey, yes they charged 1.0 users too much for an upgrade, and yes there is still much work to be done in perfecting this, but come on -- it's an amazing piece of software. I urge you to take the time to try it out and see how vast its uses can really be. [alert admin]

Spell Catcher X 10.1.3 (Mac OS X)

Not for Me

This is an excellent idea hobbled by a very poor design. There are fat too many preference setttings, and it's hard to figure out what they do. The interface when checking spelling is very busy -- who needs all those options? Writers want a spell checker that's unobtrusive, lightning fast, and easy-to-use. This could get there, but right now it's a mess. [alert admin]

Mozilla Firefox 1.0PR 0.10.1 (Mac OS X)

Truly excellent browser

This is the browser Safari is trying to become. It's fast and infinitely customizeable -- you can do everything frokm block ads (adblocker) to easily send a link in an email to writing html code. I have been with this browser since 0.7 and it's progress in such a short time is a tribute to the power of opensource programming. The only drawback is its interface. Still waiting for someone to come out with a truly native Mac interface. Try it, search out extensions, and you really won't go back to Safari. [alert admin]
