PasswordVault Lite 5.1.0 (Mac OS X)

The Lite Edition of PasswordVault is free

We really appreciate your feedback about PasswordVault Lite, and I hope the following information clarifies our thinking on the Lite Edition. The distinction between freeware and shareware is sometimes unclear. In our view, shareware often means you can try it out for 30 days (or similar), whereupon some key functions are disabled or crippled. Alternatively, the Shareware version may have something missing (eg. the Shareware version of Doom only included the first third of the game). The Lite Edition of PasswordVault is not restricted in this way - the auto-distribution function is actually a Pro Edition feature (generally needed by enterprise users, not individual users) and the 30 day trial of this feature gives all users the opportunity to test this feature if they wish to. BTW, the commercial Std Edition includes a 30 day trial of this feature too. Lite Edition users may never need to crossgrade to the Std or Pro Editions (15 services is enough for many users), so for them PasswordVault is free. In addition, it's made very clear in the primary product title that it's the 'Lite' edition - you are obviously getting a 'Lite' edition when you download this product. Spyware is generally hidden in products which are represented as full versions so companies can make money dishonestly - we don't do that. There is no spyware or any other malware in PasswordVault at all, nor will there ever be. [alert admin]

PasswordVault Lite 5.0 (Mac OS X)

PasswordVault is a cross-platform product

It's very unkind to assess a product and our website on such a superficial basis. We prefer MacOS, but we develop cross-platform and maintain a consistant graphical style across platforms. Just because our website doesn't look like an Apple website look-a-like doesn't make it ugly either. I hope that you will actually try out PasswordVault sometime and assess it on it's features and functions - it's an exceptionally good product. [alert admin]

PC-Mac-Net FileShare Lite 4.6.0 (Mac OS X)

PC-Mac-Net FileShare v4.6 works well on all platforms

The newest version has been tested on Jaguar (10.2.8), Panther (10.3.9) and Tiger (10.4.1) and works well.

The Windows version has been tested on Win98, Win2k and WinXP, the Linux version has been tested on Fedora 3.0, and the MacOS Classic version has been tested on MacOS Classic 8.6 and MacOS Classic 9.2. It works well on all platforms. [alert admin]

SuperSocket 2.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

The developer's website…

is no longer active and they no longer respond to email enquiries (I've been trying to contact them now for two months). This is a dead product with no support - don't use it or buy it. [alert admin]

PC-Mac PasswordVault 1.0 (Mac OS 9)

It is actually…

available on Windows and MacOS X (including Jaguar) as well. The MacOS X version looks best. Maybe you could email the developer to suggest what aspects of the user interface could be improved. [alert admin]

I got a File Corrupt message

The downloadable archive was created with StuffIt 7.0.3 - if you have an older version of StuffIt Expander, it probably had a problem recognizing the newer StuffIt archive format. We have just uploaded an archive created with StuffIt 4.0 - you should now find it works fine. Please email us directly in the future if you have problems like this. We hope you like the new version of PC-Mac-Net FileShare.
