dhalias 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Easier than DreamHot panel

Much easier and faster to setup email aliases on your DreamHost accounts than using DH configuration panel. Could we get the possibility to remove outdated aliases? [alert admin]

StuffIt Deluxe 11.0.2 (Mac OS X)

I guess this will be my last upgrade

I agree with other posters on the silly "Microsoft way of thinking" behaviour of the archive manager that presents you all the archives it can find on the disks. Please let me decide what I'd like to manage.
I also miss the ability to look inside an archive via a contextual menu which is gone (this made me revert to version 10).
As I am not compressing files daily, I don't mind loosing a bit on performance. [alert admin]

RPN Calculator Widget 1.1 (Mac OS X)

good start

It is nice to have at hand a RPN calculator in Dasboard (Apple's Calculator at last offers this mode in Tiger, but dear what a wait!). There is room for improvement : -allow the configuration of keyboard shortcuts by the user (on my keyboard the key ~ does not exist and swapping the two top elements miss me a lot; may be the less useful DUP button could be replaced by a SWAP). This would brong support to internationalisation. - a possibility to let users chose to display the buttons or not would be a plus (keeping the display area consumed at a minimum) [alert admin]

DragThing 5.5 (Mac OS X)

good new fetures

I just wish that the ability to hide DragThing from Apple's dock would not require administrator rights but be a prefrerence that every user could manage. [alert admin]

Virex 7 DAT 040908 (Mac OS X)

better information required

The introduction in the package of this release indicates:
Product Release: 09/08/2004
DAT Version: 4390
Engine Version: 4240
Instead of the product version 040908 given by NAI the DAT Version, i.e. 4390 should be provided as this is the available info from the About menu in Virex.
Note: Virex 7.5 does not propose to the new DAT file through eUpdate (I use .mac Virex version and currently have DAT Version 4385) [alert admin]

XLR8 MACh Speed Control 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)

little speed improvement

I ran quickly some bench tools to compare this with the free L2CacheConfig. AltiVec Fractal Carbon 1.1.3 shows an increase of 16% in terms of GFlops. CocoaBench1.2.1 an overall gain of 2.5%, with a noticable gain of 10% in number crunching tests. Xbench shows an overal gain of 2.7% [alert admin]

The feature won't be defeated. The dock customization and appearance is normally left to the user.

Menu small items no more usable.

Hello Ralph I have also A PowerMac G3 beige, upgraded with an XLR8 MACh Speed G4z 500 MHz, running Mac OS X 10.2.6. I do not experience the problem you mention with the small icons in the menu bar. I currently have Timbuktu, Display, Sound and Date showing. I could also add the Modem. I do not have a better suggestion than the classic ones:-( - repair file permissions - use the combo installer to reinstal the system

    Superfluous

Thank you for the advice. I'd rather like to create a folder and some alias than install software in my Applications folder (ok I am a bit paranoiac when it comes to download from the net :-)
