GIFfun 4.2 (Mac OS X)

Pretty Bad...

This program is bad, the GIFs it produces look terrible compared to Windows counter parts which do the same thing. In addition it does not let you specify a save directory, instead it saves to some obscure location. The usage guide is written as if it were for a command line tool. No options at all such as resizing. All in all a pretty bad application that isn't updated either. I would not recommend it to anyone. [alert admin]

Trimmit! 0.95 (Mac OS X)

Backup...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't creating a backup file defeat the purpose of trimming the app in the first place? If you are trying to save disk space, you aren't helping yourself by creating another copy of the file that you are trimming. Personally I think that the idea of having a blacklist/known list (like xslimmer) is slightly more intelligent approach. But trimmit! does seem to make the files smaller than xslimmer. [alert admin]

Xslimmer 1.2.4 (Mac OS X)

Some issues

I have some issues with the way the Genie is set up. I obviously would not like to add applications 1 by 1 since that takes too long but when I use the genie I would like to be able to selectivly slim applications from the list that pops up. Instead hitting the "slim" button will start running through ALL the files on the list (I have to hit stop really fast, sometimes im too late) even if I would have liked to exclude some... this is a very dangerous behaviour.
