IOXWebcamX 1.1 (Mac OS X)
Given the fact that you can buy decent UVC cameras for a little over $30 I find $20 for a driver much too expensive. Would buy for $5, though. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.5.4 (Mac OS X)
Still the same problems with Adobe CS3 files ![]()

I updated to OS X 10.5.4 on a latest generation 24" iMac with Adobe CS3 on it. This is the only Mac with 10.5 installed in a publishing company with 10 Macs, all with Adobe CS3 and all working always with files on the same file server. The other 9 Macs have OS X 10.4 installed. The iMac with 10.5 has massive problems with CS3 files since updating to 10.5.2 - frequently existing Photoshop files disappear from the server after the "Save" command, frequently "Save As" is not possible in Photoshop, sometimes Indesign crashes when files are getting saved on the server - none of this is happening on the Macs with 10.4. On the first day with 10.5.4 at least in Photoshop exactly the same problems: Existing files disappear from the server after the "Save" command, "Save As" is often times not possible. Shame on Apple! Shame on Adobe! I would love to have 10.4 on this iMac. Unfortunatley that is not possible - should I now trash that machine? Or maybe switch with the whole company to Windows? It's really frustrating. [alert admin]

Firefox 3.0 (Mac OS X)
Firefox 3 does not work with URL Manager Pro ... ![]()

... and for now I consider this to be a Firefox bug. After using URL Manager Pro since many years I could not imagine to be without systemwide bookmarks anymore. Anyway, what is the big fuss about Firefox 3? I tested about 25 websites with Firefox 2 and Firefox 3, and Firefox 3 is - if at all - only marginally faster than Firefox 2. I'm also not very excited about the new look; I especially don't like that there is now less optical contrast between active and non-active tabs. Hopefully there is an update coming out soon. In the meantime I switched back to Firefox 2 and give only 2 stars to Firefox 3. [alert admin]

URL Manager Pro does not work with Firefox 3 anymore. Will there be an update to fix this in the foreseeable future? [alert admin]

EasyFind 4.0 (Mac OS X)
Great little helper. Finds everything and lists it with all neceessary information. Under the line much better and faster than Apple+F (does not find a lot) or Spotlight (very little file information). Thanks a lot to the developer! [alert admin]

Firefox 2.0.0.9 (Mac OS X)
Firefox has been from the beginning and still is my favorite browser of all times. Even though it seems to be a little bit slower than Safari - the "Delete All Cookies When I Close Firefox" and "Clear All Private Data When I Close Firefox" features alone make it many times better than any other browser. And then all these add-ons ... really great ... [alert admin]

I could not avoid to get updated to Safari 3.0.4 when I updated from OS X 10.4.10 to 10.4.11. Safari is now totally unusable; crashes always when I try to open it. Good that there is Firefox! I tried to go back to 2.0.3 but that version is also not working anymore. What a piece of crap! [alert admin]

Logitech Control Center 2.4.0 (Mac OS X)
I'm having a S 530 Keyboard Mouse Combination, and LCC 2.3.1 finally brought a visual indicator for the CapsLock status (how incredibly idiotic from Logitech to build a keyboard without LED in the CapsLock key!). I know that this is done with the help of Unsanity's APE, but since I'm using APE anyway this is not a problem for me. In LCC 2.4.0 this indicator is gone again and that made me think of Logitech as moronic again ... Moreove, with LCC 2.4.0 installed all my Growl notifications do not work anymore - thank you Logitech, is is a truly great accomplishment to mess around in other applications with a simple keyboard/mouse driver! So, I went back to LCC 2.3.1 - and the CapsLock indicator and the Growl notifications work again. Shame on you, Logitech. You have once been a really great Mac supporting company, and you certainly also got big through many Mac users, but more and more you turn into some kind of Anti-Mac oriented thing. Shame on you again!!! [alert admin]

Skype 2.7.0.49 (Mac OS X)

QuicKeys X 3.1 not fully compatible with Tiger!
Well, if you go to the QuicKeys/Tiger support page (http://www.startly.com/support/faqs/qkx3.html#tiger) you can see for yourself that Startley acknowledges that some Menu Shortcuts don't work under Tiger anymore in 2 of the FAQs ("I upgraded to Tiger and now some of my menu shortcuts don't work" and "Why does my Menu Selection Shortcut not work?"). Given the fact that Tiger is on the market since nearly 1 year now I would have expected a fix for that…
