Samba 3.4.2 (Mac OS X)
How do I install this Samba on an Intel Mac with OS X 10.5? We have our Macs connected to a server with smb and massive problems in general and with Adobe Creative Suite CS3 specifically and I would urgently like to try this Samba instead of the default Samba that comes with OS X 10.5. However, I have not the slightest idea how to make that work! Is there anybody who can help me or tell me where I can find instructions to install this and to make it work? Thank a lot! [alert admin]

MaxMenus 1.5.1 (Mac OS X)
I'm kind of wondering - isn't this pretty much the same like FinderPop? What makes this worth $30 when FinderPop is free? [alert admin]

Mozilla Firefox 3.0.9 (Mac OS X)

Also version 3.0.9 is still crashing about 9 out of 10 times when I try to print a page, especially when I triy to print into a PDF file. This is rotten, and it is super rotten that the developers ignore this problems since many, many months althout many places on the internet, including their own forum, are full with reports about this bug. The only good thing about Firefox is its superior privacy handling but to people who are not concerned about that I can only say: "Stay away from Firefox!" [alert admin]

Version 3.0.8 still crashes when trying to print web pages - a common bug that is arrogantly ignored by the developers since many months. [alert admin]

L'Astrologue 6.5 (Mac OS X)
The application does not launch on my G5 with OS X 10.4.11. Wrote the developers an email and even added a crash log - they didn't even bother to answer. Forget about it! [alert admin]

Mozilla Firefox 3.0.5 (Mac OS X)
Always crashing when trying to print ![]()

I don't remember exactly when it started, I think it was with version 3.0.3 or so: Firefox is now always (!) crashing when I try to print a page, regardless of the printer, also when trying to print into a pdf file. Both other browsers that I have installed (Safari and Opera) and all of my other applications anyway have no printing problems. OS X 10.5, G5. There was a time when Firefox was by far the latest and greatest browser around. Now the developers don't even seem to care anymore. On two support forums (http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum.php?locale=en-US&forumId=1 and http://forums.mozillazine.org) are numerous postings about this problem - no reaction from the developers. They are probably too successful ... [alert admin]

URL Manager Pro 3.5b10 (Mac OS X)
Unfortunately UMP still does not work with Firefox 3, and the developer is also not saying wether and/or when a Firefox 3 compatible update will be available. After years of using UMP that's kind of sad. Fortunately I found Butler - which can do everything that UMP could and much more (and works with Firefox 3). [alert admin]

IOXWebcamX 1.1 (Mac OS X)
Given the fact that you can buy decent UVC cameras for a little over $30 I find $20 for a driver much too expensive. Would buy for $5, though. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.5.4 (Mac OS X)
Still the same problems with Adobe CS3 files ![]()

I updated to OS X 10.5.4 on a latest generation 24" iMac with Adobe CS3 on it. This is the only Mac with 10.5 installed in a publishing company with 10 Macs, all with Adobe CS3 and all working always with files on the same file server. The other 9 Macs have OS X 10.4 installed. The iMac with 10.5 has massive problems with CS3 files since updating to 10.5.2 - frequently existing Photoshop files disappear from the server after the "Save" command, frequently "Save As" is not possible in Photoshop, sometimes Indesign crashes when files are getting saved on the server - none of this is happening on the Macs with 10.4. On the first day with 10.5.4 at least in Photoshop exactly the same problems: Existing files disappear from the server after the "Save" command, "Save As" is often times not possible. Shame on Apple! Shame on Adobe! I would love to have 10.4 on this iMac. Unfortunatley that is not possible - should I now trash that machine? Or maybe switch with the whole company to Windows? It's really frustrating. [alert admin]

It might be rude and even idiotic that Firefox changed its bookmarks format. Still - for me this is a UMP issue. Especially since an alternative like Butler works flawlessly also with Firefox 3.

Well, if you go to the QuicKeys/Tiger support page (http://www.startly.com/support/faqs/qkx3.html#tiger) you can see for yourself that Startley acknowledges that some Menu Shortcuts don't work under Tiger anymore in 2 of the FAQs ("I upgraded to Tiger and now some of my menu shortcuts don't work" and "Why does my Menu Selection Shortcut not work?"). Given the fact that Tiger is on the market since nearly 1 year now I would have expected a fix for that…
