MenuMeters 1.3 (Mac OS X)

Broken with Snow Leopard?

MenuMeters does not appear to want to load after loading 10.6 Snow Leopard. I really like MenuMeters but like others, I cannot do without it. Is there another app that I can use in the meanwhile? [alert admin]

Parallels Desktop 4.0 Build 3844 (Mac OS X)

Fixes sound with Windows7

This build appears to work fine for me and fixed a problem I was having with sound and windows7. BTW, you can get a trial version of Win7 RC1 good till 6/10 from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx. It appears you must be doing it from a PC to sign in but when I received the link for the download, was able to retrieve it on a Mac to burn the DVD. [alert admin]

Apple Mail Server Update (Mac OS X)

Confused to the current version

I am confused as to what is the current build. I have OSX 10.5.6 with mail version 3.5 (930.3). Went to the Apple Store today and the new iMac had OSX 10.5.5 with mail version 3.5 (929.4/929.2). I assume my machine at home was updated with the most recent mail and I do not need this update (though I do have some unusual "beach ball spins" with "application not responding" for several minutes requiring a forced quit). I also note when commenting on this version of Mail, though it says 10.5.6 on the Version Tracker page for this mail update, when I get to the page that allows me to submit my feedback it says it is mail for OSX Server 10.3.9. All very confusing. Paul [alert admin]

Apple Server Admin Tools 10.5.5 (Mac OS X)

Note "About Server Admin" says 10.5.3

You may not need to download. It is a known issue that this version says 10.5.3 in the about box or get info. However it is build 279.1.1 and not 279. See the Apple Discussion Post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1714004 Paul [alert admin]

Parallels Desktop 3.0 Build 5540 (Mac OS X)

Crashes requiring a reset

Just updated to 5540. First attempt to start virtual machine with Vista, Parallels stated something about not being able to address the screen. Only option was to quit. Second attempt, and caused a system crash with the small multi-language window telling me to do a hard restart by holding down the power key 5 sec. Repeat attempt after rebooting, same result. Using Leopard. Previous version of Parallels (I do not recall the build #) worked fine in leopard. [alert admin]

RBrowser 3.3.3 (Mac OS X)

Tied to hardware

I think i stinks that I upgrade my laptop and I have to buy a whole new copy of RBrowser. Yes, the documentation warns me but nontheless, it stinks. Not even an upgrade path. Not worth the price. I have not bothered to renew. Use Transmit instead. [alert admin]

RBrowser 3.1.3 (Mac OS X)

I just bought a new laptop

I am replacing my laptop and it appears I will have to buy another license to use it on the new machine. Never encountered that level of restriction before. I cloned the drive and it still will not work. Now that to me is too restrictive. I will not recommend this app to anyone else as a result. I do not use it often but I need more funtionality in the Lite version has. [alert admin]

Apple iSync 1.1 (Mac OS X)

I want my conduits back!

I just alowed iSync to update and it removed my established conduits for Adove reader and ePocrates as well as Address, ToDo and the calendar file! That stinks! (to put it politely). How do I get them back? I will reinstall Palm desktop and I guess I will have to reinstall ePocrates Pro and Adobe Reader. Paul [alert admin]

Eudora X 5.2.1 (Mac OS X)

Eudora now consumes…

memory like crazy! With no windows open and no activity, I can use ProcessViewer (or top) and watch Eudora's percent memory uilization go up right before my eyes! This problem is new to 5.2.1 and, though I have been a loyal eudora user for 8 or more years, I am now looking around for an alternative [alert admin]

To my surprise,…

downloading iSync with Software Update turned off my currently operational conduits without my knowledge so my Mac was not synchronizing the calendar and address book with the palm. BAD! I use my palm to sync my work calendar (Outlook 2K on WinNT) with my Home Mac and I found I had missing appointments. BAD! It should not make changes to my machine without my permission. See Apple Knowledge Base Article 61856: "Installing the iSync Conduits for Palm automatically turns off conduits the installer believes may conflict with the iSync conduit." "When you use the iSync Palm Conduits installer, it will assume that you want to use iSync to synchronize your Palm calendar, address book, and to do list with iCal and Mac OS X Address Book." I want my conduits back!

I just discovered that the iSync install moves the missing conduits to a folder "/Library/Application Support/Palm Hotsync/Disabled Contuits/" and merely moving them back into /Library/Application Support/Palm Hotsync/Contuits/" makes htem active again. I really do not like it when any company mucks with my settings without telling me Micro$oft or Apple.
