Deep Notes 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)

simple notepad-outliner works great

just perfect for certain needs only nit - author added a keyboard command to the Keyboard Shortcuts window that you can make visible to refer to while you work - he added an item but left the window the same size and now all the text doesn't fit in the fixed-size window. Not a big deal, but... Anyway, kept that 5th star missing, that and limited customizability and export abilities Still, great app [alert admin]

Uninstaller 1.9.2 (Mac OS X)

Works Great

Does much more than just "uninstall" applications & associated files - so the name may be not as descriptive of this utility as it could be. Reminiscent of Installer Observer, this app can show you EVERY file added and/or modified after an installation (best after using the freshly-installed app for a short period before the "re-scan" to see ALL files added/modified). Allows you to save lists of "added/modified" files for future reference; also allows you to save in compressed format any "groups" of a removed app and its associated files for future re-install, if you want. A great app - probably does more than I will use it for, but it's great to have for those of us who like to know what gets installed with any/all these apps we might want to try out. [alert admin]

Cookie Muncher 1.0.5 (Mac OS X)

Erratic behavior for me

First time I installed, I selected "Camino" as only browser to gather cookies from; nothing happened. Then I added IE & Safari, nothing still. Trashed ALL files, re-installed. This time, I selected (in Preferences) to gather cookies for IE, Safari, and Camino. I think nothing happened. So, I quit the app, and next day started it up and it "gathered" cookies from all 3 browsers as I watched (progress bar indicated its activity). Now I had cookies for all 3 browsers, but which cookie belonged to which browser is unknowable. I basically wanted to use this app to manage Camino cookies (and ALL BROWSERS cookies) if it worked well, but Camino and Camino alone's cookies first. So, trashed all files agasin, re-installed and selected Camino in Preferences when I had app running; again nothing happened. I then added Safari and IE and selected "Save" and still nothing happened. Don't know what I'm doing "wrong", probably nothing. It just seems to be not consistent enough for me to keep trying. It's too bad, because the one time I did have all cookies "gathered" into Cookie Muncher, it would have been a breeze to manage them, I'm guessing - as I'm the only user I NEVER log out and in, so don't know how that aspect of app figures in in actual use. Jag 10.2.6 on G3 iMac 700 - latest version of browsers mentioned. [alert admin]

Running MacScan seems to change some prefs

I using 10.2.6 on G3 iMac 700 - I read comments here about some preferences being changed and the like, but figured that since some had seemingly not experienced any negative impact, that I'd be one of those lucky ones. Ran a quick scan first (don't remember getting to "select" any folders/volumes to scan, anyway it checked out ok. Then ran full scan on my Users folder, then full scan on Applications folder (reportedly over 40k files in it!!! I was surprised to learn). It reported no bad stuff found, and I didn't notice any changes to anything. A day or so later, I shut down and restarted and on restart, my clock was reading 24-hour time. Went to Preferences to change it - it was still "clicked" on 12-hour time; I re-clicked 12-hour button and it changed back to display 12-hour time. Also, my alert sound had been changed; my mouse speed had been slowed down from fastest to about medium; and something else minor seemed to have been changed but can't remember. Now today, a few days later, I opened my Mail app and my passwords on both accounts had been "forgotten". Everything changed I put back as it was with no problem, but I'll probably not run this utility again until I see lots of comletely positive comments posted. I'm not a unix expert and can't afford to have my system "messed" with where I wouldn't know it (probably happens some anyway) or worse yet, broken. Although nothing seems broken, some undesired changes seem to have been made by running this app - too bad, as it can be, and probably will be, something very useful. [alert admin]

Better and better

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said with the exception of the "uses little memory" comment. I'm in early trial period and think that I only had ONE doc open - the Tutorial - and noticed that the memory usage showed 100 MB, more than any other app open, even Safari (but Safari DOES creep up over 100 MB at times). Anyway, a truly nicely-developed app so far and I, too, feel that it will only…

Not as cheap as it seems

I think SumBoi might be the developer :) Really... Aside from that, reading and knowing the terms of the license doesn't mean that one endorses its terms; usually, though, one has no choice if one wants to use the app but to go along! I, myself, like to install my most-used apps on my main drive AND on a couple of external FW drives that also run OS X but sometimes (usually) a different revision of X.…
