Palm Desktop 4.2.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Works for some of us, even with Tiger

I have been using this version for some time now. I upgraded my G5 to Tiger, expecting the worse, and other than crashing during the very first post-update sync, it has been syncing flawlessly between my G5 and Tungsten T5, even with the new iSync architecture. For those who plug Missing Sync, I would say (1) it isn't free (2) I have tried installing it on a couple of occasions and it has buggered up my setup in a big way. I'll never install it again unless I am forced to. [alert admin]

LimeWire X 4.2.3 (Mac OS X)

Alters permissions indeed

While I am not given to outbursts, the issue of altering permissions is inexcusable. Here is a text of an e-mail I sent to the Limewire folks > I have been a paid limewire customer for some time. I am very perturbed that the latest Limewire installers alter the permissions on the root drive and on the applications folder to Read Only (I am logged in as an administrator) under OS X. Frankly, this qualifies as BONEHEADED. The fact that this has been reported by several people already (don't you people read?) and that the installer STILL hasn't been fixed qualifies the developers for a free upgrade to DUMBASS. You need to either learn how to make an installer or get out the business. There is no excuse for this. < [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.3.6 (Mac OS X)

Ron, try decaf man!

When you use Software Update, you get an installer that is specific to your system version. I gather you are already running 10.3.5. When you download the standalone installer, you are getting an installer that will update any version of OS X 10.3.x. That is why it is larger. You can relax; there is no conspiracy. [alert admin]

Cisco VPN 3000 3.7.2 (Mac OS X)

Those who are authorized know who they are

You can't just register with Cisco and download their VPN client software. If you are the guy responsible for doling out the VPN privileges at your company, you will have the necessary credentials to download the software. If you are a user and want the latest version of the software, then talk to the IT administrator at your place of work who is responsible for the VPN connection and he/she will provide it to you if it has been tested and approved for use by your company. As for the rest of you, what do you need the software for anyway? So stop whining on this site--it won't get you anywhere. [alert admin]

Cisco VPN Client 3.7.2 (Mac OS X)

I have been…

unable to install the client (version 3.7 or 3.7.2) under 10.2.3. The installer authenticates and then crashes. I tried a reformat and clean install of Jaguar but stilll get the same problem. Anybody else having this problem? [alert admin]
