MacPrivacy 1.1 (Mac OS X)

For lazy folks with too much money

You can already do everything that this "app" does, without shelling out any bucks or installing anything extra on your machine. So you're paying $15 just to have it all gathered together in one place for you. [alert admin]

iKey 2.3.4 (Mac OS X)

This beta is buggy

I've been using iKey for years, and never had problems with earlier versions. But this beta gives an error message "class 'keyboard-shortcut' not found" on launch, and then quits. I'm on a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5.6. [alert admin]

McAfee VirusScan 8.6.1 (Mac OS X)

Screws up my system BIG TIME!

VirusScan wipes out all my stored login items every time I log out and back in. It also triggers a kernel panic every time I try to restart my early 2008 MacBook Pro. I have uninstalled this utter POS. From now on, I'll stick to the freeware program ClamXav. [alert admin]

LOOPS Screensaver - Snow 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Runs fine, but...

... looks more like falling laundry soap or something. Snowflakes have symmetrical crystalline shapes, and they FLOAT through the air unless there's a strong wind. I'd check out some of their other modules, but this listing is specifically for Snow. [alert admin]

Adobe Updater 6.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Is this for Leopard?

The description says it fixes "networking problems" in 10.5, but the list of supported OSes ends with 10.4. WTF? [alert admin]

Saft 10.5.3 (Mac OS X)

Bug in latest version?

I have been a happy Saft user for quite a while, but this release seems to have a bug. After installing it, I started having frequent hangs in Safari that required a Force Quit. Using Time Machine to revert to the previous version has eliminated the hangs. [alert admin]

Safari New Tab Button 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Pardon me while I chuckle...

... at the thought that more than a thousand people figured it was worth $2 to click once instead of twice, for one single action in one single application! [alert admin]

Microsoft Silverlight 2.0b2 (Mac OS X)

VersionTracker, please correct your listing

Microsoft's SilverLight website confirms that version 2 is NOT compatible with PPC Macs. [alert admin]

Safari AdBlock 0.3 (Mac OS X)

Same here

Yup, only blank pages show up. This is in 10.5.1 on a PPC Mac (15" PowerBook). [alert admin]

Will not work on Mac OS

Well, it sort of works on my MacBook Pro running 10.5.6. Maybe it requires Intel Macs? But it's a buggy piece of cr@p anyhow. Plus they eliminated several very useful features from LW 4. Trust me, you're better off NOT using LW 5!

Still crashing

Make sure you disable any 3rd-party add-ons (Saft, PithHelmet, Safari Enhancer, etc.) until they are updated to work with the new version of Safari.

Can't update

I'm in the same fix, with the same idiot error message, and I DO have the most recent previous update installed. But this POS installer refuses to update my Office 2008 12.1.1 to 12.1.2.

So...

If you downloaded both to the same location, then your Finder labeled the 2nd download as 1.0.1. Don't know why you got 2 different sizes, though. My dl is 2.2 MB.

This sucks!

You might try going into System Preferences > Keyboard & Mouse > Keyboard, and make sure to uncheck the box for "Use the F1 - F12 keys to control software features." That, rather than OnyX, is the likely culprit.

Never mind, moved the additional frameworks from ~/Library/Frameworks to /Library/Frameworks and it now launches. Odd.

7.0.8 is ONLY for Acrobat Reader

Considering that I downloaded and installed the Acrobat 7.0.8 update, I'd say you are incorrect.

Broadband Optimizer works better for me

I also have TimeWarner's 5 Mbps cable service, and my experience was the same - I get better speed with Broadband Optimizer than with Apple's BT.
