What ToDo 1.3.2 (Mac OS X)

I hate to be a total ass...

But are you kidding? $29? Have you seen Things? Have you seen OmniFocus? The only thing that kept this comment from being even more scathing was the fact that I checked out your blog and it dawned on me that you're a person with feelings. So dude, nice effort. But seriously... $29? [alert admin]

Scribbles 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Absolutely mind-numbingly fantastic!!!

I wanted a simple program to doodle my own graphics for mind maps (http://www.imindmap.com/). I found this. Because of this program I bought a graphics tablet and got 3 books on drawing because it was so easy to use it inspired me to actually learn how to draw for real. Wow! Why couldn't stuff like this exist when I was a kid and had tons of free time... This developer deserves awards for innovative simplicity. [alert admin]

Midnight Inbox 1.2.8 (Mac OS X)

I've changed my mind...

Even though this product has great potential and I would prefer to use it over omnifocus if I could, it doesn't seem to be making any progress. The developer doesn't give timely updates. The product as-is is a decent proof of concept, but doesn't really deliver. [alert admin]

Cover Version 1.6.1 (Mac OS X)

Why would you want the lyrics on top of the artwork?

That makes it harder to read. Why not move the artwork over to one side or the other at a slight angle into the distance, and then have the lyrics on the other side of the screen unobstructed... Seems like that would be much better. And put the song name at the top above the lyrics... [alert admin]

Midnight Inbox 1.2.8 (Mac OS X)

Best I've seen

I've read Getting Things Done. I used Life Balance for years. I tried MyLifeOrganized on the PC. I looked at the new OmniFocus. Midnight Inbox is the BEST implementation of GTD that I've ever seen. Not only does it give you the tools to organize everything correctly, but it has three things none of the others have. 1) It has the proper workflow built into it to constantly guide you in the right direction. For instance, I've always known that while processing my inbox if I couldn't complete the task in 2 minutes I should just file it and move on. But I would always end up breaking that rule anyway. This program has a fantastic dialog that guides you through the workflow of processing new inbox items and even has a TIMER to remind you "Oh well I guess I can't actually get this done in two minutes. I should add it to a project..." GREAT! Other solutions force you to stick to the GTD rules on your own, which to me is half the battle which shouldn't be ignored. 2) The collections idea is FANTASTIC! FINALLY someone has realized all the other items on your computer that are actually new inbox items which need to be processed and lets you do so via the same GUI as your project list. And 3) It has the best GUI of all the apps, and I don't just mean pretty icons. The sidebar (once again) promotes good workflow. The status icons that tell you how many items are in each "folder" is a great idea. The text is incredibly readable. Come on people. We're MAC users. We're artistic and graphic design people. How come graphic design people haven't realized serif fonts have better readability? When you're looking at a HUGE list of projects and action items, you will get psychologically turned off immediately if it's not readable. Inbox does the best job I've seen of using white space, and proper font selection (size and serif) to make things readable. AND it has a nice warm color scheme. I don't care if it crashes every now and then as long as my data doesn't become corrupt. And the crashing should be fixed in the free upgrade to 2.0 anyway... I'm putting my money on this one because I think it's only going to get better. (I mean, hey, they're going to make an iPhone/iPod Touch version.) AND it's more reasonably priced than all the others. I'm buying it now before they realize they could be making more money. I suggest you do the same. [alert admin]

ReceiptWallet 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

I don't want to be a stick in the mud...

But you do realize that if you used Quicken on a PC you could attach all your receipts, warranties, etc. directly to the registry entries...? I know most people are going to crap on that idea because it's not a Mac. But I'm a die hard mac user. I just got sick of Quicken for Mac being a piece of s.hit, so I use Quicken on a PC (which is light years more advanced) and I love the functionality of attaching directly to registry entries. If it weren't for that, I'd probably be very happy about this software like everyone else... [alert admin]

Listz 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Please make it look better...

Unfortunately I believe I'm going to continue using this because I like the current functionality and think there is some good room for further improvement. But for the love of god it is FUGLY. [alert admin]

Chicken of the VNC 2.0b3 (Mac OS X)

No good Mac VNC clients

Sorry, but I have yet to find a Mac VNC client that works faster/better than using a Windows VNC client through Virtual PC. The next best thing I've found for speed is the platform independent java client of TightVNC. [alert admin]

Life Balance 3.2.6 (Mac OS X)

Finally found the Life Balance KILLER! :)

I've been using Life Balance for about four years now. It never improved. EVER. All of the suggestions that were posted to their forums were ignored. Well I've finally found the Life Balance KILLER! I've found the app that we all wanted Life Balance to be. It's called MyLifeOranized. Find it at http://www.mylifeorganized.net/. It's only for the PC, but I have a PC laptop and IT'S WORTH IT! I only found it tonight and I have a lot of playing around to do. But I've already used their conversion tool to import my Life Balance outline, so I'm already up and running with my live data. Do yourself a favor. Check it out. It really is everything I wanted Life Balance to be... Now if they would just make a Mac version someday... [alert admin]

Leopard?

Works fine for me in Leopard. Installing Leopard from scratch actually fixed a weird Applescript Studio bug I used to have where the GUI for an Applescript Studio app would only come up every other time. 50% of the time I'd get menus but it wouldn't bring up the main window. But it would always work the other 50% of the time. Now it always launches correctly. And is downloading and decoding just fine.

Life Balance KILLER???

If you "have yet to determine the actual effectiveness of this program", then you should keep your mouth shut since you don't know what you're talking about. 1) If you were a long time Life Balance user you would LOVE to have this information. I PERSONALLY would keep checking out the review of Life Balance here hoping some other disgruntled user would finally suggest a good replacement. Instead, I had to do a lot of searching…

YES!

Actually, it doesn't seem like the iChat beeps or Mail message alerts get broadcast... :( So I guess I have to keep checking my VNC client since I can't get any audio alerts...
