iMovie '08 Library Compressor 1.1 (Mac OS X)
f you've been having trouble with iMovie 08 for 2 reasons, you need this script: *Caution* This software requires installation of QuickTime Pro and Apple's XCode Developer Tools (or just the setfile command). Also, the Project Library will require rebuilding. The workflow is to compress and THEN edit. 1) If your iMovie Library is simply too large with all those DV files. This utility compresses them in place using an editable format, renames them using the original iMovie 08 library system, and then moves the original footage to an archive folder. you can then edit the .MOV files instead of the massive DV files. Very useful and efficient. 2) If you want to edit-in-place your iMovie files using QuickTime Pro, bypassing the downgraded standard definition (SD) qualities of iMovie 08. This utility lets you use QuickTime Pro to access the iMovie 08 file and naming system, working on the DV or compressed movies while preserving the metadata. So far this utility only works on movies imported directly into iMovie 08. [alert admin]
