glTron X 0.70 (Mac OS X)

No multiple user support

Really nice game; but, it does not seem to support Multiple-Users (maybe I ned the Network version). Had to download another copy of the app for our other account to use it. [alert admin]

KidsGoGoGo X 8.9 (Mac OS X)

Kids Go Go Go! is great!

Kids Go Go Go! blocks kids sites for their accounts; open internet for mine. I see a lot of comments about the documentation. This program is made in Japan. They have apparently used a translator program to create the english User Guides. They are making a nice program available to us; I hope we do not fault them too much for doing so. Here's how to make it work: Install and Launch Kids Go Go Go! Choose a Filtering option and your're done. Just Hide the App. Next Log In Kids Go Go Go! will work in the background. If you have a kids log in in addition to yours, turn Off Filtering in your account. Deselect Disallow user's changes to settings. Now, Fast User Switch to your kid's account. Launch Kids Go Go Go! Choose the filtering option. Kids Sites Only searches a database. Harmful Sites searches the site to determine if it should be blocked. Hide Kids Go Go Go! Switch back to your account and select Disallow user's changes to settings. Hide Kids Go Go Go! (You may have to click OK...I forget which is correct right now.) When you log out and back in Kids Go Go Go! will be functioning in the background. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.3.3 (Mac OS X)

Dazzle Compact Flash Reader Won't

Bought a new, used digital camera and a Dazzle Compact Flash card reader. cannot get the images into my Mac without them being damaged, at best. Tried the same on my friend's 10.2 system; no problem. Another user reported the same Dazzle problem on Apple's forums. [alert admin]

Adobe InDesign CS 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Box Strokes still not fixed

Well, they still haven't fixed the stroke problem. Try this: darw a box with a fat stroke and no fill. Now, click on the Swap Fill and Stroke icon at the bottom of the tool bar. Surprise! The outside dimension of the box is now smaller by half the width of the stroke. This is not how version 2 behaved. It happens no matter if the stroke is aligned to the inside, outside, or center of the line. THIS IS A MAJOR BUG, in my opinion. It has not been fixed in 3.0.1. [alert admin]

Adobe InDesign CS 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Indesign Bug

In general InDesign is a great page layout program. I have been using it since version 1 (version 1.5 was the first usable version, though). My only complaint is a bug with box storkes, and this is a big bug, for me. After six months Adobe doesn't seem to be willing to fix it, either. Here is the bug: Draw a box with a stroke but no fill. Now swop the fill and stroke colors. Voila! The box is no longer the same size. It is now the stroke's width smaller. This is not now ID 2 worked. Don't know why so many people are complaining about the inability to easily save into 2.0 format. There are new features in ID CS such as new Transparency Blending modes. They would be misinterpreted in 2.0. ID cs is so great (except for theenormous bug noted above) everyone should update as soon as Adobe fixes it (if they ever do). [alert admin]

Adobe Illustrator 10.0.3 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Illustrator 10

I dunno, my Ilustrator 10 running under OS X is very stable. Never crashes. I love the transparency effects; and, yes! I even use the Appearance Palette frequently. I like being able to apply a stroke or two to just one path, and being able to place the stroke below the fill, without having to make another path. The downside? Just that soft shadows and transparency preclude the use of spot colors. (So, when are commercial printers going to be able to achieve with their four inks, the same vibrant color I get from my four-color inkjet? When they do, I won't miss spot colors one bit (well, thet'll need toreduce their dot size, too...) [alert admin]
