Quote$ 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

From version 1 to 1.0.1

If you have run version 1.0.0 of Quote$ on your system, you will need to trash your Quote$ folder in user/Library/Application Support/. We made a few underlying schema changes that are not compatible with the 1.0.0 version. [alert admin]

Quote$ 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Tire Kicker Feedback Wanted!

Great downloading!!! Guys, first, let us thank you all for the tremendous number of downloads. We knew we had a product with a lot of interest, but we did not expect this much - Thanks! What we are not getting are comments and feedback. If you bought Quote$, why did you buy it? What features were important to you? What would you like to see added? If you DID NOT buy Quote$, what was it missing? What does it need before you will buy it? What needs to change? We want to hear from everyone who has tried Quote$. Please let us hear from you, too! The Good. The Bad. And even the Ugly! We have literally hundreds of features, in our list, that we can add to the application. However, we don't want a bloated application. Quote$ is intended to be a tool to make more money for sales people and not get in the way of your sales process by weighing you down with unwanted features. However, we also don't want to miss anything that you require to get your business done. Let Us Hear From You! You can contact us by sending us an e-mail by using this link. Or you can send us feedback from directly within Quote$ by using either the "Report Bug" or "Enhancement Request" menu items under the Help menu. Finally, you can go to our Quote$ Feedback form on this web site. However, you do it, just do it. This is a market driven application if there every was one. [alert admin]

Parallels Workstation 2.1b2 (Mac OS X)

Good for Tech Support people

One thing I have not heard mentioned when people talk about virtual machines on Macs, is their ability to enable a single technician to have one or more different operating systems (and even more versions) running concurrently for providing support to users. Thus one support tech could be running a product in OS X, Windows XP, Windows 2000, various Linux flavors, at the same time and thus be able to walk clients through problems on any of this systems yet only have one piece of hardware. Much more space and cost efficient than having multiple machines. [alert admin]

Witch 1.0 (Mac OS X)

I miss the point…

Since I can use Expose to flip between Windows (Tiger), why would I need this? After hitting F9/F10, I simply tab through the windows offered and never have to take my hands from the keyboard. [alert admin]

OOSearch 0.2 (Mac OS X)

Great but I would prefer SpotLight plug-in

This is great. But what I would really like is a SpotLight plug-in for NeoOffice. That make more sense to me than a dedicated application. [alert admin]

Macally iShock/iShock II/AirStick 1.0.3 (Mac OS X)

To AGDesign

Maybe I am a bit old-fashioned. I think you should now issue an apology for your obviously erroneous opinion and assumption. I was just as angry as everyone else over the problem with 10.3.8. But I think that the reacted very quickly to the problem once it was known. Your assumption and thus statement that MacAlly has no intention of fixing this was obviously not based on any facts. Thus have you reduced the value and credibility of any statements you make. [alert admin]

SMARTReporter 2.0b3 (Mac OS X)

Excellent little application…

I have four (4) hard drives in my PowerMac G4. It found one with a failing SMART drive status immediately. I confirmed it with Apple's Disk Utility. Then unmounted and removed the drive, after getting all desired data off. Great little application. I plan on using it on a couple of iMacs that I have and are using for little servers. Splendid City 4.2 (Mac OS X)

Exporting Schedule Data

In the recent comment from Niagara Software, it is stated that schedules can be exported in the free version in an XML format. I think they'll need to be more specific as to how that is accomplished since the only objects that are readily available for export are the team, location, and field objects without any schedule data that I can locate. The manual does not seem to make it obvious either. While there is room for error on my part, I have extensive experience with software (since 1976) and can *usually* find any feature in an application. I downloaded the software to try it for our soccer league. It currently runs on a Windows-only package and I wanted to expand the options. This package seems to have some great potential. I expect to be able to convince my league to pay for licensing of this software for the Mac, Windows, and LINUX versions. However, there are some deficiencies that should be addressed like schedule export. Perhaps it is just a question of making the manual better so that the option of found more easily especially if "The intention is not to present a 'Free' version and then not provide any usable type of functionality as a vehicle to more software downloads, but to continue to aid in the noble cause of organizing and managing youth sports." Most of the volunteers I know will not be able to figure out where that feature is if I have not been able to. [alert admin]

I've seen the…

"PC vs. Mac" comparison with Premier. The PC wins hands down but I hear rumor that is because Premier does not fully support either Altivec nor the dual processors. Can anyone verify this? Can anyone compare speed of Premier with FinalCut Pro? [alert admin]

VueScan 7.5.6 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

kuzelnik , you…

should withdraw your praise for VueScan because of potential support for UMAX consumer scanners. Most of those have been sold as USB scanners and the author of VueScan has stated time and again that he will not support UMAX USB scanners. While this may be a great product, apparently giving 5 stars for something that is not going to happen is not justified. [alert admin]

Shareware…?

I don't understand the difference between "Commercial" and "Shareware" software. Is the difference who makes it, the feature set, the pricing level, or some other criteria? Price alone cannot be the differentiating factor. Otherwise, perhaps "Shareware" should be called "Cheapware" and Commercial "ExpensiveWare" - seems more accurate. If it means being able to try it before you buy it, then there is little difference between the two. Maybe feature set? I don't think there is any real…

For people who use it occaissonally

It is very useful for people like myself who do not use Terminal regularly enough to have it on the Dock or up and running all the time. It is very nice to have it at the press of a button. It is the only way? No. But it is a very nice option.

Cautious Recommendation

If it is okay with this comment board's policy, I'll suggest you take a look at DayLite from Marketcircle. It is a great solution and may have what you are seeking. I am cautious in my recommendation because there is no information on your needs beyond a desire for stability and a database that isn't corrupting unexplainably.
