EndNote 9.0 (Mac OS X)
Just finished my 150 page thesis with Endnote and MS Word and it was a trying experience. Endnote gets so bogged down with large libraries and documents that it crashes, bringing MS Word down with it. [alert admin]

iPodder 2.1b2 (Mac OS X)
I'm all about open source, but this program just doesn't cut it for me. The concept of a cross platform, one-size-fits-all app sounds good, but I think it's asking too much. The program uses Python to aggregate the RSS feeds but it doesn't work seamlessly. If the user closes the window, Python crashes and iPodder freezes requiring a force quit. The program is slow and gets bogged down if you try to download to many files at once. Also, you can't download just one of the older files in a subscription without deselecting all of the rest of the files separately from all of your subscriptions before you hit the "one-click" download button. If price is your main deciding factor, go with this one, but I would reccommend one of the Shareware apps available which have greater funcionality. [alert admin]

Jiggler 1.2 (Mac OS X)
This little app is just what I needed. I'm running some cpu intensive cluster computations in a university lab and the IT dept won't give me admin access. The computers are set to automatically log-out after 1 hour of idle time. My analyses need to run for as much as 40 hours. This little helper keeps me from sleeping in the lab and shaking the mice every hour. And no admin access needed to install. THANKS! [alert admin]
